I had the misfortune to recently attend a CMF event and was perplexed at why they have the word "Muslim" in their title.

The event felt like a sketch from Goodness Gracious Me with young tory toff's greeting their elders with a "hello aunty" as if they had a plum stuck in their throat, - what what.

The event was in honour of a character called Shaun Bailey who is the Tory PPC for Hammersmith. Bailey, a black right wing evangelical who introduced himself as a "card carrying christian" used the opportunity to claim he had street credibility with Muslim youth and annoyingly constantly referred to them as "my Muslims"

Despite the audience of young Tory Muslim politicians what struck me was how the issue of Iraq, Afghanistan, the Middle East, in particular the injustice heaped on the Palestinians was not raised once by those who could wax lyrical about their student loans.
