Ali Dizaei the leader of the National Black Police Association has been charged with Misconduct and perverting the course of justice. On this occasion the Met appear to have taken exception to Dizaei arresting someone in a restaurant.
Not content with forcing out Tarrique Ghaffur, Dizaei also appears the victim of a nasty vendetta by senior white male officers at Scotland Yard who seem desperate to remove any opinionated non white senior officer from their ranks, particularly when it's Muslim.
Unlike some of the Jack booted thugs on display during the G20 Dizaei, who has an MA & PHD also has a distinguished record promoting diversity within the force. As a result the Met tried to previously frame him on corruption allegations and also accused him of being a spy for Iran. He was cleared in 2003 after an Old Bailey trial reinstated him and awarded compensation.
One would think the Met had more important priorities. After all some of their recent achievements after the Lawrence inquiry described them as " institutionally racist" have been:
- The murder of Jean Paul de Menizes because he looked like a Muslim,
- The bungled Forest Gate saga where PC plod discovered Muslim's had beards,
- The wire tapping of a Muslim MP
- The brutality on display during the G20 which ultimately led to the death of Ian Tomlison.
The word tolerance often gets used to describe a state of mind towards recently arrived immigrant communities. However, I believe that Londoners have been very tolerant towards the incompetence of our boys in blue.
In order to maintain that tolerance the new Tory friendly Commissioner better get a grip. Otherwise, rather than viewing the Police with a tolerant Dixon of Dock Green image increasingly they will simply be viewed as as white men in uniform some of whom carry guns.
