Chelsea to sign Muslim Franck Ribery

Looks like one of the world greatest footballers Franck Ribery who reverted to Islam is the latest target for Roman Abramovich and his blank cheque.

Frank currently playing for Bayern Munich is an amazing footballer who will be an outstanding addition to the Kings Road outfit despite my natural antipathy as a QPR supporter to anything from Stamford Bridge.

London Muslim is often amused and slightly baffled when obscure Israelites get significant coverage as in yesterday's Murdoch Times but any mention of the world's greatest footballers being Muslim is conveniently ignored as you will note from the Daily Mail article.

The usual suspects will kick off saying whats a person's religion or country of origin got to do with their football ability. Agreed, however my point is about consistency or the lack of it, if its ok to continually promote the Israelite origins of a handful of obscure players then its certainly ok to point out the world's greatest footballers who play in the Premiership are Muslim as I have done previously.

The Picture is Franck with his beautiful Muslim wife Wahiba Riberry who was responsible for Franck's reversion to Islam. Let's pray Wahiba recovers from Swine Flu inshallah.

  1. consider :
there are 18m israelites in the world.
there are 1,500m muslims in the world

there are 2 israelite premiership footballers (benayoun & cohen)
so there should be 166 muslim prem footballers. (there are not)

maybe thats why the israelite-playing-in-the-premiership story is of interest ?
