CNN investigate The Israel Lobby in the US

Following the Channel 4 Dispatches investigation into the Israel Lobby in the UK I've just watched CNN's Christiane Amanpour on Prime Time TV spend her entire programme this evening examining the role of the Israel Lobby in the US.

The programme was astonishing for a number of reasons. First the fact the programme aired on CNN the leading US News channel was extraordinary. However, the nature of the discussion was even more astonishing because it covered amongst other things the lobbyists collectively known as the the Israel Lobby and had they "run their course" as a "post holocaust generation" begins to assert itself.

Settlements were called a "cancer" and a "disease" by Jeremy Ben Ami of J Street a new Lobby set up to rival the Likudnites of AIPAC and the American Jewish Congress. Richard Goldstone also mentioned his unease at being called a self hating Jew and Anti Semite. In addition, it was interesting to note how the first George Bush called himself "the little guy" when he faced the full might of the Israel Lobby during his attempt to link loan guarantees to a halt on settlements.

London Muslim has been at the forefront in mentioning the change in tone of the American public, Media and academia towards Israel. Something very significant is happening in American attitude towards Israel and at the forefront of this change in tone is American Jewish opinion.

We 1 billion Muslims around the world will never change the situation between Israel and the Palestinians. As far as London Muslim is concerned 1000 Muslims is equal to one Jew of conscience. The situation in Palestine will only change when Jews of conscience say enough is enough regarding Israel's inhumanity towards the Palestinians and this evening we saw another American Jew of conscience begin to distance American interest from Israel's interest. The gap is widening.
