FIFA and Arab League mull Egypt-Algeria Football row

The spat between Algeria and Egypt has now reached both the Arab League and FIFA.

London Muslim is disappointed to say the least that a football match albeit a crucial 2010 World Cup qualifier between two Muslim countries can quickly descend into violence and hatred with ambassadors being recalled.

Goal has an excellent article about how this situation has been allowed to deteriorate by the political establishment of both countries something I had already mentioned. Going back to the Arab League its interesting how they are mulling the practicality of banning Arab politicians from attending further matches in view of the role they had stirring this up

The final salt in the wound has to be Israel's provocative offer to mediate between the two nations. Sporting passion is all well and good within reason but what about political passion to overthrow tyrannical dictators and unity with the Palestinian cause.
