Mubarak Stirs up Algeria Egypt football tension

The Pharaoh Hosni Mubarak has spoken about "the dignity" of Egypt's people suffering as a result of the loss to Algeria in the World Cup. Lets be clear what Mubarak's game is.

You may recall the dictator Mubarak's role during the Gaza Massacre when he gave the Israelites the green light to go ahead with their war crimes as detailed here . Not surprisingly the reaction on the Arab street towards this treachery was hostile to say the least.

Mubarak like Nasser is trying to regain some popularity by playing the nationalist card with the help of his son who he is trying to position for a takeover once he moves on. One has to say these Arab dictators must think we are all stupid.

Both Egypt and Algeria behaved badly during the World Cup qualifier however desperate populist rhetoric is not needed to deflect attention from tyrannical regimes. For a start Mubarak could spend more time supporting the Palestinians in Gaza over the Rafah border and supporting the Christian minority who are being attacked in Egypt.
