How ironic that with all the talk of Iran's nuclear facility in Qom the Murdoch media and the rest of the pro Israel media establishment fail to mention the word Dimona or Vanunu or even Israel when discussing the nuclear proliferation in the Middle East. Have a look at this and ask yourself why is there complete silence and censorship about Israel's atomic bombs from "expert" Foreign Affairs and security correspondent in the media.

Ever get the feeling that in the current political lexicon, talk of Iran and Nuclear is similar to Iraq and WMD? Which country is urging the west to position itself to isolate Iran politically and economically. Whose Foreign Secretary refused to take the military option off the table when talking about Iran but fails to come clean about his family living in the occupied territories.

Unfortunately part of the problem is we have in our Muslim midst the biggest group of degenerates that exist in the planet in the form of the House of Saud and other Gulf royal families who appear to be encouraging the sabre rattling against Iran rather than taking the heat (no pun intended) out of the current crisis.

What we require is less one sided hypocrisy, a realisation about who really is the military aggressor, a need to stop taking the Israeli bait and a push for a genuine nuclear free Middle East which includes Israel's nuclear bombs.

Apparently with the War Criminal Ehud Barak possibly due to attend and speak it is hoped that if Lawyers acting on behalf of Palestinian families are successful in the courts today an arrest warrant may be issued and Ehud Barak could be nicked at the LFI meeting tonight for war crimes.

London Muslim notes that the latest Muslim to possibly want a bit of English Premiership football action is Prince Faisal bin Fahd bin Abdullah al-Saud.

As a result London Muslim urges the Muslims buying into English football to begin to help overhaul attitudes at the highest levels in English Football starting with the FA and Premier League that continue to prevent Muslims enjoying football without the harassment and aggression that still pervades a number of football grounds.

Perhaps one day the Sports Minister, Chief Executive of the Premier League and FA or even football clubs themselves might one day arrange Iftar parties where they invite both Muslim and non Muslim players and supporters in order to help break down the barriers of misunderstanding between communities.

London Muslim was amused to read the UAE Foreign Minister's speech to the UN calling on Iran to hand back some disputed islands.

While I'm for international and territorial sovereignty being respected and have no time for the brutality the Iranian regime showed toward its own citizens I was momentarily tempted to make an exception in the case of the playboy princes of the UAE.

Just imagine what the UAE could do with these islands. Perhaps they could make the sado masochistic brother of Sheikh Zayed known as Sheikh Isa the Governor and ask him to establish the Guatanamo of the Middle East.

Alternatively they could gift the islands to Prince Andrew and create a few more discos, casinos and nightclubs. With the remaining land they could create the Ascot or perhaps Glorious Goodwood of the Middle East for the shake your Money's of the UAE to dress up with bowler hats and lounge suits in order to look like the western monarchy's they so desperately and pathetically seek to ape.

Frankly Your Majesty's why don't you stop getting Neo-Cons to write your speeches and realise that perhaps these islands are fortunately not in the hands of western puppets who run their so called mickey mouse countries as personal fiefdoms on behalf of fake royal families created by the West.

New Labour Warmonger Jack Straw appears to have agreed to join the BNP on a Question Time Panel.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realise why. Having so pissed off the vast majority of Blackburn Muslims what better way to re-engage with the goons down the local mosque like Lord Patel by also showing how he is taking on the far right on their behalf.

Bearing in mind some of the areas of agreement between Straw and Griffin on the Burkha one wonders if this would be a good time for Straw to actually join the BNP. Ironically one sticking point may be Straw's support of the Iraq & Afghanistan wars which the BNP oppose.

The Labour Party Conference

The Political circus moves to Brighton for the Labour Party conference which probably will be more like a wake than a political conference.

London Muslim as you may know is a very critical Labour supporter and having a look at the Fringe agenda only heightens my anger.

There are hundreds of Fringe events but not one appears to mention the word Muslim in its title. There are "Faith Receptions" held by the Christian Socialist Movement, there is even a fringe event called "don't forget the Chinese vote" by Chinese for Labour but nothing for Muslims who make up 3% of the UK population.

Muslims Freinds of Labour run by a bunch of comedians out of Muhammad Sarwar MP's office is essentially a front organisation for British Pakistanis to kiss each other's arse and has done nothing of political note other than the odd curry dinner.

While all Muslims will be reassured to know our beloved leader Dr Muhammad Abdul Bari Will be gracing a number of fringe events with his presence including a Unite against Fascism one the reality is Muslim political engagement within the party is at an all time low. While the Govt of Bermuda and Gibraltar hold fringe events where is the Muslim world or were they kept at bay by the International Division of the party.

The London Labour spends it time expelling Muslims and perpetuating an all white political hierarchy within London via Ken Clarke who I've said needs to stand down or be kicked out to provide some confidence that London Labour has or is about to turn a corner in their attitude towards Muslims.

An indication of how the political elite and establishment within the Labour Party just don't seem to get it is a fringe event called "How Labour will win a fourth term on Foreign policy". Honest, that is the title and David Milliband the Foreign Secretary is speaking at in on Monday evening. Frankly, I'm not sure if I should laugh or cry.

Not surprisingly once again Labour Freinds of Israel will be there presumably organised by their Director Luciana Berger. However, since my last post Ms Berger has taken down all reference to Labour Freinds of Israel from her blog. Moreover, she seems very quiet about her role in the LFI event on Tuesday evening. As a result and with a special message to the 25% of Muslims in St Pancras and Sommers Town Ward ward if you want to see your prospective Labour Party candidate in action, or if she does a runner, her close colleauges in action the LFI event is on Tuesday 29 September at the Grand, Floor G, with special guest speaker the Israeli Minister of Welfare and Social Services Isaac Herzog. If asked, by the Mossad goons on the door what you are doing say you want to see how Luciana Berger would represent the Muslims in Camden.

Ivan the Terrible

London Muslim is often amused when confronted with the rhetorical question how can you expect fairness and balance in British Foreign Policy towards Palestine when there are two Jewish Foreign Office Ministers in David Miliband and Ivan Lewis. I'm amused because of the hushed tones in which the subject is raised by people of all faiths and no faith.

While there is an element of unease approaching this subject ie questioning the possible inherent and favourable disposition of a British Jew as distinct from a Zionist towards the Israeli Occupiers it got me thinking if there were two Muslim Ministers in the Foreign Office would it be considered a legitimate debate to question what if any dual loyalties they may have based on religion.

The recent hysterical and racist reaction to Mehdi Hassan being appointed as Political Editor on the New Statesman and Sadiq Khan's elevation to Transport Minister leave me to believe that should we ever have two British Muslim Foreign Office Ministers one can imagine what sort of welcome-outrage they would receive from the Chiswick Witch Melanie Phillips, Stephen Pollard, Nick Cohen, David Aaronavitch, Danny Finkelstein, Martin Bright not to mention Harry's Place.

All of which brings me to the title of this post. London Muslim can exclusively reveal that Ivan Lewis our Labour Friend of Israel (LFI) Foreign Office Minister fresh from spouting off against Ken Livingstone is currently in the USA where he is having a number of discreet meetings with American Jews calling Britain a "a very warm friend of Israel".

London Muslim agrees with the point Lewis makes in the interview that it is mere coincidence the two most senior UK Foreign Office Ministers are Jewish which should be a matter of pride for the Jewish community. However, when you have a blatantly pro Israel zionist and former Vice Chair of LFI as a Foreign Office Minister in my opinion there needs to be a check and balance by ensuring a member of the Labour Friends of Palestine (LFP) is also in the Foreign Office. Alternatively, to ensure complete objectivity there should be no members of LFI or LFP in the Foreign Office.

A kick up the Norsheen Bhatti

Watching and listening to the Liberal Democrats is always a fun experience however politics is serious business which is why I'm also struck by the all white nature of the leading Lib Dem politicians served up in Bournemouth this week. Other than the ubiquitous Fiyaz Mughal I cant really think of anyone young and non white in a position of influence.

Anyway, someone who used to be a Lib Dem and appears on the outside to be non white and Muslim is the fragrant Norsheen Bhatti. Notice the legs on display and the casual flick of hair. London Muslim has written about her previously. Well, in the best traditions of an opportunist desperately seeking power Nosh Bhatti set out again her reasons for deserting and joining the Tories. This spoiler presumably at the instigation of her Eton Spin masters was published just before the Lib Dem conference. Nice timing Nosh.

How on earth can this comedian be taken seriously when she reiterates the only reason she joined the Tories was not due to policies but because "the only alternative" to Labour is the Tories. In other words code for the only way she can get elected is as a Tory. In addition, anyone who admits to being inspired by Eric Pickles (where is his left hand?) needs a metaphorical kick up the Bhatti.

Nosh, give it up and come clean, admit to politically being willing to say anything for power and position.

According to reports looks like the leader of the Nazi's, Nick Griffin has a date set for his Oxygen of Publicity care of the BBC.

Watching this Nazi hate preacher being provided a platform on a flagship BBC current affairs programme will be repugnant but in my opinion freedom of speech cannot be withheld from elected politicians.

Labour Freinds of Palestine

The Labour Friends of Palestine and the Middle East will be holding a number of fringe events at the Labour Party Conference in Brighton on Monday 28 September. Details here.

LFPME was recently established to provide a voice for Labour members and supporters who want to see a viable Palestinian state. While the Labour Friends of Israel has been all powerful throughout the dark Blair and Lord Levy New Labour Foreign Policy years a small minority of

Labour MP's valiantly raised the injustice and suffering of Palestinians.

The champions of Palestinian rights within the Parliamentary Labour Party who played an important role forming the LFPME were Martin Linton, Richard Burden, Phylis Starkey and Andy Slaughter to name but a few. Ironically the next election could see all those MP's lose their seats which is why it is of paramount importance that Muslims politically organise now to help support these parliamentarians who during this difficult parliament helped and supported the rights of Palestinians. Support for these MP's can be done through fundraising, campaigning leafletting etc and just requires a call to their Agents asking what help is required.

An indication of the power of LFI has been how many of their members have been placed in the Foreign Office where they display their dual loyalty to Israel. Kim Howells, Jim Murphy, Meg Munn and Dennis McShane. The most recent example was Ivan Lewis who condemned Ken Livingstone for having the temerity of talking to Khalid Mashal of Hamas. These were all Israel's point people in the Foreign Office championing the occupation.

As a result in my opinion rather than tucking aways their greetings on a website that is hidden to many, London Muslim is of the view that the Prime Minister and the leader of the Lib Democrats have still not appropriately conveyed their Eid Mubarak greetings to the entire UK Muslim Community.

The growing Halal market

This article in the Guardian shows the rapidly growing surge in high quality London restaurants serving halal food.

Traditionally if you wanted a Halal meal it would be off to Chicken Cottage or perhaps Nandos but now that the Halal meat market is estimated at 11% of UK sales the up market restaurants are belatedly getting in on the act.

As mentioned previously KFC and McDonalds are beginning to dip their toes in to the Halal market however, one does have to say they really are dragging their feet given the huge demand particularly within cities like London.

US Poll: Muslims discriminated against.

Following 9/11 and in my opinion the extreme Bush reaction of eg The Patriot Act, Americans appear to be undergoing an introspection in their attitudes towards Islam and Muslims by accepting that Muslims have been unfairly discriminated against. There appears to be a healthy reevaluation of American bias and prejudice which a growing majority understandably accept went to far in negatively stereotyping an entire community for actions ironically that had nothing to do with American Muslims.

Moreover I think the overall message is how in a short period of time the political leadership from President Obama has already begun to show a significant shift in the American public's perception towards Islam despite an overtly hostile media.

With the political conference season upon us will our UK political parties follow Obama's example of initially acknowledging the hostility towards Islam and Muslims before condemning it and promoting a more favourable image of Muslims. I''m not holding my breath although London Muslim certainly expects the Labour Party to show some long overdue leadership in this area

Target: UK Somalis

Comments emanating from the usual circus act of right wing neo cons have begun to focus increasingly on Britain's growing Somali Muslim Community. In particular there appears to be a desire amongst the usual suspects to link Somalis in the UK with events back home and in particular the rise of Al Shabab

This article indicates the growing focus of Britain's intelligence community on young Somalis leaving Britain allegedly to train with Al Shabab. Not surprisingly useless Tory prat and rent a quote Patrick Mercer MP also graces us with his usual scaremongering nonsense. The good colonel who I have written about previously has now claimed without a shred of evidence that a "steady stream" of young Somalis are heading back to fight a jihad.

While London Muslim does not underestimate the challenges of integrating one of Britain's newest immigrant communities, comments from that well known racist Tory MP attempting to stigmatise and stereotype a large proportion of decent law abiding citizens is at best not helpful and at worse a pathetic attempt to appeal to the racist audience who love to feed off fear.

TUC Statement on Israel and Motion 76

Today the Trade Union Congress debated International Affairs in response to a TUC Statement on Israel and Motion 76 moved by the Fire Brigades Union.

The debate was the culmination of a huge amount of lobbying by the Israelites to water down the draft motion and TUC statement calling for a boycott of goods produced in Illegal settlements which caused significant arguments and controversy within the Union movement.

London Muslim followed the debate closely which made me proud to be a trade unionist and to see my union the PSC join UCU, TSSA and Unison in supporting the FBU motion. The manner in which the occupation, blockade of Gaza, settlements, boycott of Israeli goods and war crimes in Gaza (recently mentioned by the Judge Goldstein UN report) were debated showed strong solidarity from UK workers to the continuing suffering of the Palestinian people. The debate was held while union delegates across the hail raised the Palestinian flag

In addition a long overdue debate is also being held by the TUC about their relationship with the Israeli union movement Histadrut who shamefully supported the war crimes in Gaza and increasingly are becoming a mouthpiece of the Israeli state rather than a genuine workers movement.

War on Want are absolutely spot on by comparing this decision with the Unions approach to apartheid in South Africa.

Lessons of Harrow

Now that the dust has settled on last Friday's handbags over in Harrow I thought it appropriate to seriously examine some lessons Mosques should heed rather than smugly thinking job done and Nazi's run out of town.

Unfortunately despite warnings and advice a number of Muslims behaved like complete twats when turning violently on the Police which was outrageous and pathetic. However, what was not reported and I'm not sure if viewers picked up the protection Police afforded the Nazis who came to cause trouble, shared the jokes and enjoyed the musical chants of "Muslim bombers off our streets", while sporting Police uniforms with the Union Jack and support our troops badges.

With regard to lessons learnt I think the overriding one has to be the need for improved Muslim political, media, inter faith and technology engagement. My sense at the demo was despite Non Muslims being present in the form of anti Nazis the Harrow Muslims were nevertheless isolated and heavily reliant on Muslim support from the rest of the city. Despite traditionally good community Inter Faith relations other faiths did not seem overly keen to go on the record criticising the march.

With regard to media engagement how refreshing it was to see a Muslim community leader strike a few fluent sentences together in English and provide some reassurance that there were no plans to introduce Sharia. What a change from the usual comedians served up who would struggle to get the microphone past their beards. In addition, one admires the role of the Harrow Times who presumably because of a good relationship with the old Harrow Mosque going back 35 years stood side by side with Harrow Muslims rather than the real outsiders the Nazis.

Politically, the need to work closely with politicians of all persuasions locally and nationally was in my opinion due to the limited and tentative political gesture of support highlighting how we still do not have our political act in order. Historically one would see politicians in large numbers on the streets be it Grunwick, Greenham Common, Wapping etc but not Harrow. That, along with Trade Union invisibility is a significant political and organisational failure.

The role of New Media technology be it in the form of blogs like this, Twitter, Facebook and the other myriad nature of social networking sites is something Mosques need to urgently address. Waiting for a Friday qutba is not enough, when the community are literally under attack they need to be informed about how to strategically respond, what levers to pull and of course how not to respond when it come to some of the younger hotheads. In this 24 hours news culture image and instant reaction are the name of the game which is why its important for all mosques to have a communications strategy.

The unity and empowerment of the Harrow Muslim community was evident. Young and old, Shia and Sunni, African, Arab and Muslims originally from the Sub continent side by side rather than the usual sectarian nonsense we see in some Mosques.

As Tony Benn says this current preoccupation with Muslims will pass and move to every Chinese takeaway restaurant who will be seen as the next threat. When it does it's imperative that Muslims emerge stronger and more confident partners in society by immediately learning and implementing the lessons of Harrow.

The Battle of Harrow

London Muslim was overjoyed at the huge Muslim turnout yesterday to defend Harrow Mosque as detailed by Lenin and the Harrow Times but also saddened that the Police allowed Nazis to march outside a Mosque on 9/11 and during a Friday in Ramadan. Judging by the thousands who read my posts on Harrow and from listening to those there many Muslims came from all over London to stop the Nazis as a result of this blog.

Sunny has a point about the poisonous atmosphere created by the press, with in my opinion the notable exception of the Harrow Times on this demo however, I want to highlight the silence and conduct of the Labour Party.

While President Obama in post 9/11 America talks of his admiration towards Islam and Muslims from his Cairo speech to holding Iftar dinners at the White House and even Boris Johnson talks of the need to understand Islam the silence from senior national Labour Govt Ministers has been puzzling.

True John Denham, an outstanding and remarkable friend of the Muslim community who resigned over Iraq has condemned the English Defence League and McNulty spoke at the counter demo however, to little to late.

For years Blair and his right wing cabal fostered an Islamophobic discourse:

Jack Straw (Burkha), Hazel Blears, (Islam Expo) Phil Woolas ("inbreeding") Jim Fitzpatrick (Weddings)

Where is Alan Johnson or Hillary Benn two thoroughly decent members of the Cabinet. What about some long overdue Jewish -Muslim solidarity from the Millibands.

During the 1980's the "Loony Left" led by Ken Livingstone (who recently condemned the EDL) with a significant input from "black sections" within the London Labour party fought racism in the streets and Town Halls. However, currently virtual silence and no solidarity from the London Labour Party and also the Trade Union Movement. I'm not surprised about London Labour which is why I've already called for the resignation of Ken Clarke the Director of the London Labour Party.

Yes the Muslim community has to accept partial responsibility for a complete lack of leadership and yes a small section of Muslims particularly in Luton have been stupidly provocative over returning soldiers from Afghanistan. Unfortunately the responsibility rests at the door of mosques largely led by illiterate buffoons who would struggle to spell cohesion let alone implement it.

However, ultimately the atmosphere amongst certain sections of society towards Muslims has occurred and been encouraged shamefully on the watch of a Labour Govt who in my opinion are behaving like moral and political cowards in failing to comprehensively condemn the Islamophobic extremism currently prevalent in society from the Prime Minister down.

London Muslim intends to be at the counter-demonstration today to ensure Nazi's are not allowed to march unopposed against Harrow Mosque.

While demonstrating please be aware of the following advice.

We have unleashed a fury and made our citizens more vulnerable to terrorism not less due to our foreign policy adventures and occupation of Muslim lands.

Moreover, imagine the further backlash against the Muslim community here if these criminals had been successful in their serial killing plans. Life for many of us is already unbearable facing the daily stereotyping and Islamophobia without misguided extremists thinking they can resolve matters through further violence and terror.

Tooting Muslim on life support after attack in front of 3 year old Grandaughter

A Muslim grandfather Ikram Haque who was brutally attacked outside a Tooting Mosque in front of his 3 year old granddaughter is currently on life support with Doctors wishing to turn off the support as he has little chance of surviving the attack.

Murdoch attack's the BBC

London Muslim has watched with interest the growing right wing neo-con attack on the BBC. James Murdoch decided to recently have a pop at the BBC up in Edinburgh.

The BBC in my opinion have recently had challenges no doubt from Quiz Call scandals to some of their executives inappropriate handling of licence fee money via their expenses.

However, unlike the Murdoch's drivel of repeat alcohol related programmes on Sky One and lack of original programming it's the BBC that is respected throughout the world for its impartiality and quality programming. Admittedly Sky have revolutionised the coverage of Sport but its news output that primarily concerns me.

What Murdoch can't stomach is the BBC as the recent Independent Poll shows is admired and valued something the Murdoch cabal will never be.

Without the BBC can you imagine the alternative in the UK of a Murdoch world of Fox News output a vicious anti Muslim channel with some content bordering on the Nazi description of Jews. Incidentally, Fox News racism gets no mention from OFCOM. Will Sky ever promote someone like Aaqil Ahmad to a senior position, of course not. While the BBC have Mishal Hussein, Ragaeh Omah, Zeinab Badawi, Riz Lateef etc who do Sky have.

Occasionally, Sky drop their guard and have their right wing Isralite agenda exposed. Remember the classic Anna Botting - George Galloway confrontation over the Lebanon - Israel war. Galloway showed her up for her ignorance and bias particularly when she described Hezbollah as "terrorists", which became a monster million plus youtube hit. As Terry Wogan correctly states reading the news is child's play but do we really want the beneficiaries of an attack on the BBC to be Murdoch and his peroxide blondes. Ask yourself who gains from any possible demise or downsizing of the BBC and what is Cameron really discussing with Murdoch when the two hold talks on a yacht.

Defend Harrow Mosque from Fascists

The purpose is to stigmatise and stereotype a whole community which cannot be allowed to go unchallenged.

Muslims in Southall, Hounslow, Slough, Brent, Hillingdon, Acton to name but a few need to unite with our Brothers and Sisters in Harrow where there are 15,000 Muslims. I don't and have never condoned violence for violence sake but what I do encourage Muslims to do is to defend ourselves when Nazi's come out into the open and on the streets to attack us.
