Yes I acknowledge the huge groan and accusation of spoil sport writing this but bear with me as I attempt a Muslim perspective before some Muslim parents consider taking the kids out trick or treating this evening.

Moreover the tradition of kids dressing up in costumes of ghosts skeletons, witches and devils to apparently ward off demons also has religious implications of celebrating the occult although now, particularly in America this has turned into a multi billion dollar merchandising exercise.

Scholars in Islam are clear that Halloween is prohibited and Muslim kids celebrate Eid not a Pagan festival of the dead.

London Muslim has often highlighted the hypocrisy in the way the media both broadcast and non broadcast selectively choose how to stereotype Muslims in a negative manner. I'm not going to dwell or labour the point because frankly you have to live on Mars to not be aware of this bias.

An interesting case study is how the positive news story of an outstanding Muslim surgeon Mohamad Ali Jawad who pioneered cutting edge surgery to save the face of Katie Piper was reported as "A plastic surgeon......." rather than a Muslim Plastic surgeon. Murdoch's Sky was also the same in its coverage and sadly Victoria at the BBC did not appear to even mention him.

Please don't get me wrong I'm not calling for self censorship. In my opinion if a negative story involving a Muslim requires coverage I'll frankly be the first to cover it however, what I am calling for is some consistency to ensure when a positive news involving Muslims arises it is not hidden from view or simply ignored because it does not fit the wider negative agenda of some of our fleet street hacks and proprietors.

The attack occurred in Forest Gate and the Police appear to be looking for members of a local black gang five of whom I understand have been arrested.

Palestine on the Daily Show

London Muslim has written previously about the changing nature of American public opinion towards Israel and Palestine. Both here and here I extensively highlight what I consider a changing paradigm in the US with regard to the Israel Lobby.

However in my opinion the most dramatic example of a US change in attitude and tone towards Palestine must be the extraordinary appearance of Mustafa Barghouti and Anna Baltzer on the the most popular entertainment show in the the US, the Daily Show.

The fact that apparently Jon Stewart was not on good form he seemed nervous (presumably because of the threats he was receiving all day to cancel the show by the Lobby) overly playing the devils advocate card and Iran etc in my opinion is immaterial. The appearance of a leading Palestinian and Anna (a Jew whose grandfather died in the Holocaust) highlighting the case for Palestinian justice and an end to the brutal occupation emphasises the extent to which the Palestinian cause is now an acceptable issue for debate on American dining tables.

I don't want to sound melodramatic but last night was a historic moment in the struggle for Palestinian human rights when a leading Palestinian and anti Zionist Jew joined together on the highest rating US show to demand equal rights and sanctions on Israel while being applauded largely by a Jewish audience. Remarkable and as I say historic.

White student Results at university better than Black and Asians

A disturbing report seems to indicate that white students are obtaining better results at University than their Black and Asian colleagues.

From my interpretation of the report, while generally results across the spectrum appears to have improved the attainment gap between the two has nevertheless widened. Clearly more work is required to drill down into the causes of this worrying discrepancy.

Saudi's ordered to behave when travelling abroad

The world can breathe a huge sigh of relief and show our gratitude to Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs for issuing a guide to Saudi nationals on how to behave when travelling abroad.

Faith Schools

Recent reports highlight how a number of what appear predominately Muslim Faith schools have been criticised for biased teaching on the Middle East.

London Muslim has previously highlighted my concern about the educational achievement or lack of it concerning Muslim kids and I'm afraid these statistics may be driving Muslim parents to shun community schools for Faith schools some run by a bunch of nutters.

Let me once again be clear London Muslim opposes all Faith schools for the reasons I outline here where I also highlight the admission criteria of two Catholic schools. On the day when a Deputy Head tries to manipulate the system in order to get his daughters into another Catholic school we have a dangerous situation in West London where Catholic Schools far from as reported having Muslim majorities have virtually no Muslim representation.

We must be mad (Sorry Enoch) in abdicating our responsibility for educating kids by allowing religious outfits to perpetuate the divisions in society based on faith. West London Catholic schools are a wonderful case study in point and I'd be keen to hear from the Oratory, Larmenear and Sacred Heart how many Muslims if any attend their schools in an area with a huge Muslim population.

"Honour" Crimes

However before I get to the debate thought the demonstration I attended was worth a brief mention. What struck me was the number of Black British who when discussing with Muslims at the demo mentioned how they went through all this racism previously.

The debate was bizarre. Griffin who looked so shifty, and sweaty struggled with something called then truth and appeared intent on denying virtually everything he's on record as saying regarding Holocaust denial.

I thought the history lesson Bonnie Greer gave him was hilarious and once again it was the people not the panel who showed him up for what he is a nasty little bigot which is partly why the BBC was correct to give him an elected politician enough rope to hang himself.

Ken attacks BBC on Question time invite to BNP

BNP and Question Time

London Muslim was in two minds about the BNP participation in tonight's Question Time and demonstrations outside Television Center.

However, despite the obvious increase level of publicity and acceptability that the Nazi Griffin will enjoy as a result of his participation like Le Pen in France, I believe that closing down debate or free speech is counterproductive.

The difficulty with that argument I accept is New Labour has trotted out Jack "Take your Burka off" Straw to be on the panel who ironically may end up defending wars in Muslim lands while Griffin opposes them.

Nevertheless, that said I will be demonstrating with anti Nazis and comrades in the Union movement tonight not against free speech or an elected Nazi's right to appear on a Political show but against his vile anti Semitic and Islamophobic views.

My advice to fellow London Muslims demonstrating tonight is don't be twats and carry provocative placards calling for Sharia in the UK. Griffin and the Nazis who now wear suits would love the image of him acting as a democrat being hounded by nutty bearded Muslims.

A report by Cambridge University which appears to have been largely ignored by the mainstream Murdoch cabal has suggested a number of interesting recommendations.

London Muslim is first to admit that anything by academics that starts off by mentioning philosophy and theology tends to be a major turn off for me. However, if I'm interpreting the Cambridge academics accurately their report seems to be saying the terms "Shariah" and "Jihad" are misinterpreted in the UK. No shit Sherlock, pretty sure Muslims in the UK could have come up with that for free rather than engaging in a nine month research project.

However, I'm perhaps being churlish as I've not had my lunch yet and should welcome what Shahid Malik calls " a groundbreaking report" as an important contributor to the debate about Muslim stereotypes in the UK.

Are Asians cleverer than white folk

Apparently according to a few quack Professors on a Channel Four Show due to be screened this month on Race and Intelligence, Asians are more intelligent than white people who in turn are more clever than black people.

These actions brought him to the attention of the Israelites who immediately began to mobilise and deliver yet another victim of the Israel lobby.

While the focus understandably will be on Barry Gardiner who I want to return to later, initially lets have a look at the fantastic manner and process adopted by Israelites to politically destroy someone who simply took a humane and conscientious position on the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Initially the Jewish Community Online wrote this article on 10 September then gleefully 5 days later reported how Barry Gardiner had responded by sacking Brown. Congratulations to Laila Rouass

Many congratulations to Laila Rouass for getting through to the next stage of Strictly Come Dancing.

While London Muslim has been at the forefront in raising the vile racist and Islamophobic nature of abuse Laila has endured I have and continue to urge Muslims and non Muslims to complain to the BBC appropriately and legally.

Naturally with over a 1000 complaints I'm delighted with the support Laila has received however, apparently following this and other campaigns it appears some who have taken offence appear intent on taking the law into their own hands and as a result security has been heightened surrounding the Berk.

For those that read and follow my campaign please don't also be Berks, should like me you feel angry about how a fellow Muslim has been treated then complain legally to the BBC.

British shame over Gaza Report

Following a detailed report by Richard Goldstone who ironically for a self proclaimed proud Jew and Zionist has been accused of compiling a biased report on how his religious cohorts carried out war Crimes against Palestinians in Gaza, the UN Human Rights Council have now voted in favour of endorsing the report.

London Muslim is immune to being shocked by this new labour Government's increasing moral bankruptcy but the outrageous cowardly manner in which it refused to vote or even abstain during the proceedings in my opinion is one of the most shameful in a increasingly long list of shameful decisions taken since 1997.

Lets be clear the Israelis have been accused by an eminent South African Jewish Judge of War Crimes during the Gaza slaughter. Initially the British Govt appear to signal that it was minded to abstain from the vote which was bad enough considering the very least it should have done was vote in favour.

However, what has not been picked up is following a phone call from Netanyahu to Gordon Brown the British Govt changed its policy. The manner in which the No 10 spin machine briefed the Murdoch press was to make us believe that Brown stood up to the Israelites. Nothing can be further from the truth. The reality is following a phone call from a foreign Prime Minister who gives our Prime Minister a bollocking, British policy changes. I'm tempted to say this about turn is astonishing but on reflection it simply confirms the extraordinary influence the Israelites have on British Foreign policy through its fellow travellers like the Labour Friends of Israel.

Just to be clear the British Government did not abstain as has been reported elsewhere our government refused to even vote and panicked once it realised other European nations were supporting the Goldstone Report.

Geert Wilders arrives in London

Amir Khan to fight a Jew

British Muslim world boxing champion Amir Khan has understandably played down the religious significance of his next fight against a Jew.

Khan who fights Ukrainian born American Dimitry Salita in December emphasised the fight would be between two professional boxers not a Muslim against a Jew.

Turkish Rage over Gaza

London Muslim has mentioned the increasingly hostile position Turkey is taking towards the Jewish state which could have major strategic implications for the Geo political balance of the Middle East.

The immediate impact of Turkey's realignment and robustness towards the Israelites has been manifested in the Turkish media reflecting the horrors of Gaza. As a result this has panicked the Israelites into attempting to restore the relationship bizarrely with Livni who was their Foreign Minister during the atrocities, attempting a counter narrative prior to the UN Human Rights Council deciding whether to endorse the Goldstone Report.

The importance of Turkish rage cannot be underestimated because of their military prowess and growing regional leadership role as highlighted by Steve Walt in yet another outstanding article. In addition, something that has not been highlighted is the democratic precedence this sets for Arab people still ruled by Arab monarchical tyrants like the House of Saud. Turkey is a classic example of how a democratically elected Muslim Government under the outstanding leadership of Erdogan reflects Muslim opinion not only on the Turkish street but also more widely and ominously in the Arab street.

Israel raises its flag in the UAE

Despite the slaughter and murder of innocent Palestinians in Gaza the UAE disco Arabs didn't appear to mind Israeli officials attending and unveiling their flag at a meeting in Abu Dhabi.

Not surprisingly the meeting was not about the Goldstone Report but related to renewable energy. From what the world saw in Gaza the Israelites don't seem to be lacking in phosphorous gas.

UK Ministry to promote West Bank as a holiday destination

The Occupied West Bank is to be promoted as a tourist destination by an agency of the UK Government.

Apparently a "fact finding mission" led by the UK Trade and Investment Authority (UKTA) seems to think an area subjugated by occupation is a good place for British tourists to visit.

London Muslim wonders if Paul Tyler of the UKTA visited the Palestinians families whose land has been stolen to build illegal settlements or perhaps the Palestinian farmer whose olive groves have been destroyed to establish their views on the merits of the occupied territories being used as a holiday outpost.

What an utter disgrace that a UK Government official paid for by we taxpayers promotes an apartheid state as a tourist destination. One wonders where next for Mr Tyler, Helmand is climatically rather pleasant this time of year.

England 2018 Football World Cup Bid

London Muslim was amused to note that while our Mosques are firebombed and the EDL March against new mosques in England, Lord Triesman a new Labour Zionist appointment to head the 2018 bid was ironically announcing the fight against racism would be central to England's 2018 bid.

London Muslim thinks Jack Warner was on the money by describing the bid as lightweight although I would go further and say the bid should be scrutinised very carefully by Muslims before we allow a few kids at the MCB to speak on our behalf claiming ridiculously Muslims support the bid.

The Taxpayers Alliance and Israel

London Muslim is intrigued by shadowy although very influential right wing outfit officially called the Taxpayers Alliance which I call the The Tax Avoiders Alliance.

Unlike other Muslim blogs who understandably have focused heavily on the charlatans at the Quilliam Foundation I've noticed how this outwardly portrayed champion of the poor downtrodden taxpayer has increasingly begun to turn its attention towards Mid East politics.

WTF has this bollocks about "brave Jewish heroes" got to do with "Tax cuts now" in the UK.

Ironically despite their usual calls for financial transparency they've been extremely reluctant to disclose their own funding sources or publish their accounts. One reason why their funding streams appear rather opaque maybe because one of their funders Alexander Heath is a tax exile.

However, despite this ironic reticence to reveal their funding sources the Guardian have exposed some of the shadowy characters fronting this organisation. One character that Muslims need to be aware of is Matthew Elliot who for someone claiming to be concerned about the British Taxpayer takes an interesting position on Israel and Hamas.

You don't need to be a rocket scientist to work out this is a right wing front organisation like a number of others that have sprung up who selectively target issues to suit their right wing agenda. You wont find squeaky Suzie Squire asking the Tories about Lord Ashcroft's tax status.

The Taxavoiders Alliance are a £1 million operation and like their fellow travellers in the Center For Social Cohesion still remain very silent on who funds them. In view of their Middle East interest I have my suspicions about who funds them but so far have no conclusive evidence.

Exclusive: CIA spying on UK Muslims

London Muslim was shocked to read a report that with our Labour's Government's approval the CIA is actively spying on Muslims in UK prisons.

I'm appalled for a number of reasons. First the story has not been picked up at all but more importantly how after the Rendition Fiasco can UK authorities allow a secret agency of a foreign Government that happily locked Muslims up without trial before torturing them, to freely operate in our country.

While it goes without saying that this government has presided over a monumental erosion of civil liberties and human rights the crass comments of Charles Farr is extraordinary when he appears to tarnish the entire Muslim prisoner population as potential enemies of the state.

According to Farr:

"people can get converted in prison to Islam. We are very aware of the risks,"

How can that racist statement go unchallenged particularly in view of current law for the treatment of convicted prisoners which states they cannot be discriminated against by virtue of their race, colour, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or political views.

What I'd like to know is who were the MP's sitting in on this private briefing and what if any action they propose to take on behalf of those that are illegally being spied on contrary to their human rights. Despite this government's best efforts prisoners including Muslim ones still have some basic human rights one of which is to be treated with dignity and respect. As signatories to the European convention of Human Rights we have the Human Rights Act to protect us all from those like the CIA who could seek to prevent us from enjoying our basic civil liberties.

This is bloody outrageous.

Israel and Turkey

Fantastic news that the Turks have cancelled a joint military exercise involving the Israeli air force. The war games were intended as a response to Iran's recent military exercise.

Following the slaughter and murder in Gaza why any nation would want to engage with the armed forces of murderers and war criminals is beyond me.

The Turks led by the democratically elected Erdogan, have been remarkable and true Muslims in their honest appraisal and acknowledgement of Israeli atrocities and have not been afraid to confront the spin operators as this famous outburst in Davos between Erdogan and Peres demonstrates.

While Libya who are pushing the Goldstone Report to the UN Security Council, Iran, Syria and the outstanding Emir of Qatar have been robust and steadfast in their response to Israel's mass murder the comedians and puppets known as the House of Saud await their orders from the White House.

Arsenal open Dubai Football School

The Gooners, presumably in view of their sponsorship tie up with Emirates have opened a football school in Dubai.

London Muslim has written previously open the lack of Muslim engagement by our leading London Premiership Football clubs. While I welcome any link made between clubs and Muslims perhaps a reminder to the Gooners and others that there are also one million Muslims living in London.

While London Muslims may not have oil wells or the sort of money to shell out as Arabs in the UAE we do have footballing talent which you may want to tap into some time soon.
