Luciana Berger selected to fight Liverpool Wavertree for Labour

Luciana Berger the Director of the Labour Friends of Israel has sadly been selected as the Labour Party candidate for Liverpool Wavertree following the announcement by LFI Chair Jane Kennedy MP that she would be standing down at the next election.

The selection is causing controversy not least because Berger is the usual product of the Westminster village, has no connection to Liverpool and of course if elected will use her position to push the agenda of Israel as Peter Kilfoyle points out.

London Muslim is delighted that following my campaign she has deserted London but is disappointed that she may find herself in the House of Commons. One has to be admire these Israelites whose devotion to their homeland means they will leave no stone unturned to pursue their political aspirations.

Naturally the close link between Jane Kennedy and Berger means that these two Israelites were working on this selection jointly for some time. According to my sources Berger would regularly pop up to Liverpool and campaign in the constituency naturally being tipped off by Kennedy on how to impress the gullible activists before she stood down.

What is it about about Liverpool which is largely controlled politically by Israelites like Jane Kennedy, Louise Ellman, Stephen Twigg who was selected in West Derby and now sadly Berger. Again, according my Liverpool sources Jews who despite only being about 2% in the constituency are nevertheless very active in areas like Wavertree, Allerton and Childwall.

The good news is this is the Lib Dem's No 1 target seat in the North West so there may be hope yet that Berger's plans are thwarted.

  1. I myself have never met Ms Berger so I do not intend to speak on her behalf. It is, however, misleading to refer to Ms Berger and Ms Kennedy as Israelites and offensive that you focus solely on their interest in Israel rather than the talents and achievements that Ms Kennedy has shown as a constituency MP and Minister and that Ms Berger has through the variety of work that she has done prior to, and including, her tenure as Director of Labour Friends of Israel.

By using the term ‘Israelite’ you imply that she is herself Israeli, which she is not, but more explicitly you suggest that her entire motivation to become an MP is to represent Israel. This is false. From what I’ve heard, she ran an energetic campaign within Liverpool Wavetree’s Labour Party focusing on a variety of issues and not focusing on Israel at all. The strong support that the Wavertree Labour Party showed for Ms Berger also suggests this and has been shown by the great feedback on the campaign that she has been running so far.

You are correct that Ms Berger is the Director of Labour Friends of Israel, but to suggest that this means that she cannot look objectively at the Israeli- Palestinian situation is entirely false. Labour Friends of Israel approach the situation with a progressive agenda that promotes peace between Israel and Palestine, advocating a two-state solution and rights for both Israelis and Palestinians. Even if she were to speak about Israel in Parliament, then you should trust that her passion for advocating peace in the region will be used for positive, rather than negative, purposes. You must also remember that it is not mutually exclusive to be Pro-Palestinian and Pro-Israeli. It is wrong to look at the situation this way, as it is in the interests of both Israelis and Palestinians to create peace and stability.

You also use demographic statistics to suggest that since Ms Berger is Jewish, it is improper for her to represent an area which you claim only has 2% of Jews. Britain is a multi-ethnic land where everyone should have the opportunity to stand for election. Moreover, the very nature of our form of representative democracy is that one person represents a large area. Within this area there are men, women, Muslims, Jews, Sikhs, Buddhists, homosexuals, heterosexuals, young, old etc. One person cannot be all of these and with the Jewish population at roughly 0.52% in England, Luciana like any prospective MP will have to work in the interests of all of her constituents.

I strongly suggest that you stop hounding Ms Berger and cease referring to her ‘plans’ that you have yet to provide any substantive evidence to support that any plans even exist.

  2. From the first sentence it became clear you do not know anything about Ms Berger.

I suggest you seek her out and engage her in conversation before jumping to a number of very wrong conclusions.

Peter Kilfoyle sadly made the same mistake.

    With love.

  3. Miss Berger is the director of the Labour Friends of israel, a group that was central to convincing Blair to sit on his hands for 3 weeks whilst Lebanon was bombed. A group who have lobbied the UK to support the illegal seige of Gaza. A group that have lobbied for continued trade with apartheid israel on both the national and european level. This women is a disgusting excuse for a human being. She has NO place in UK politics. And I hope Liverpool kick her right back to London. She has no affiliation with Liverpool other than the Labour Friends of israel view it as a winnable seat, after she realised she wasn't gonna go anywhere in Camden.
The Labour Friends of israel and by extension its director are an affront to all that is decent about the UK

  4. I severely doubt that you have ever met Ms Berger, yet you refer to her as a ‘disgusting excuse for a human being’. These offensive personal attacks on her are actually what you term ‘an affront to all that is decent about the UK’. Are you insulting the intelligence of the overwhelming majority of Liverpool Wavertree Labour Party members who warmed to her personality and her political abilities or are you so set in your ways that you want to discourage a young aspiring politician from starting her political career? We are fortunate that Israel is a land of opportunity where we should be encouraging all people to get involved in politics, rather than turning away young people at the start. I sincerely hope that Ms Berger does not take this abuse to heart.

Also, you make unfounded and incorrect statements on Labour Friends of Israel, for which if you cared to do any research beyond your pre-existing prejudices would show that Labour Friends of Israel are friends of both an Israel, secure and at peace with her neighbours, and of a viable and democratic Palestine. If you had bothered to read it, you would see that the literature they produce is of the highest quality and is not uncritical of Israel. Their latest in-depth publication makes practical policy recommendations for how to evacuate settlers from the West Bank. This is hardly “an affront to all that is decent in the UK”; it is thinking seriously about the action that needs to be taken to create a peaceful Palestinian state.

  5. Here some questions for starters for Ms Berger:

What were here views on the Iraq War?

Does she believe that lands occupied in 1967 by Israel are illegally occupied?

What are her views on the apartheid system within Israel itself?

  6. tomlinson for office. good old english, liverpudlian common sense, he at least knows what it is to be from liverpool and british. where does the muslim-jewish thing come to play. good grief, never mind her being jewish, the fact she isn't local says it all. british for the british...and leave religion out of it. it should be at least something like four generation british to run for office, that would make more sense and the all british for sure; not just one or two generations

  7. You obviously have a primitive, racist outlook on life. You brag, that following your campaign, Luciana Berger is leaving London.I`m sure that she would regard your views with the contempt they deserve.

  8. There seems to be quite a little campaign running for Berger. Far too organised and PR-led for my liking.

She's too young and inexperienced to be any good as anyone's MP.

The fact is that the only interest she shows in Liverpool is self-interest. She has no local understanding and can be expected to spend most of her time in London.

Any party inflicting candidates on local constituencies at the expense of service to that constituency deserves a hammering at the polls.

Fortunately, there shouldn't be too long to wait.

  9. The fact that she like Jane Kennedy and Stephan Twigg belong to a very powerful lobby the Friends of Israel and the fact that we are made to back Israel and if we do not we are anti semantic. Jews used to live in Liverpool and had a great influence in the city till Thatcher came after this city and they left but kept their businesses and hold on the city but lived in Manchester, and Leeds. It is right to question people who put themselves up for a job that they know little about but are deep friends of the Blairs. These people are not friends of Israel for nothing laws are being changed in this country to accommodate the wants of Israel and they lobby for this, it is nothing to do with looks its everything to do with Israel and its need to gain a hold in anywhere. Liverpool has enough racist problems yes it is a racist place just covert about it. We want to know people well before we hand them the reigns of power were not a daft as London.
