While I understand the point made by opponents of the decision, that it causes confusion particularly in semi literate village areas where Christian missionaries are active, as far as I am concerned this decision is still nevertheless fine with me.
However, the govt don't think its fine which is why they are sadly appealing. Someone should point out to the Govt that during the period of Jahiliyah in Arabia during the nomadic years predating Islam most Arabs believed "al-Lah" was their high god which was the same as the God worshipped by the Jews and Christians. As a result, Arabs who converted to Christianity also called their God "al-Lah" and made the Hajj alongside Pagans. My point is Christians have been using the word "al-Lah" before Muslims.

Well, accordng to Quran yes, Allah is the God of all of the Prophets, and their followers.
ReplyDeleteIf the decision is overturned - how will they enforce it? Are they going to start trying people for the crime of using a word?
Can we called the God in the bible as Allah?
ReplyDeleteLet us compare the Almighty God in the Quran vs the God in the bible.
Almighty God in the Quran
2:255 (Y. Ali) Allah. There is no god but He,-the Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede in His presence except as He permitteth? He knoweth what (appeareth to His creatures as) before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass aught of His knowledge except as He willeth. His Throne doth extend over the heavens and the earth, and He feeleth no fatigue in guarding and preserving them for He is the Most High, the Supreme (in glory).
YUSUFALI: (he is) the creator of the heavens and the earth: he has made for you pairs from among yourselves, and pairs among cattle: by this means does he multiply you: there is nothing whatever like unto him, and he is the one that hears and sees (all things).Surah 42:11
Let us study the God in the bible
God had finished the work by the seventh day, so on the seventh day he rested
Genesis 2:2
By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.
The seventh day is holy because on it God rested from all the work
Genesis 2:3
And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.
The Lord rested on the seventh day and blessed it and made it holy.
Exodus 20:11
For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
The Lord abstained from work and rested.
Exodus 31:17
It will be a sign between me and the Israelites forever, for in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he abstained from work and rested.’
the Lord our God rest upon us
Psalm 90:17
May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us- yes, establish the work of our hands.
On the seventh day God rested from all his work
Hebrews 4:4
And yet his work has been finished since the creation of the world. For somewhere he has spoken about the seventh day in these words: “And on the seventh day God rested from all his work.”
OOOp God in the bible rest on the seventh day???
Allah never ever rest.
Surah 50:38
SHAKIR: and certainly We Created the heavens and the earth and what is between them in six periods and there touched us not any fatigue
PICKTHAL: and verily We Created the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, in six days, and naught of weariness touched Us.
YUSUFALI: We Created the heavens and the earth and all between them in six days, nor did any sense of weariness touch Us.
More about God in the bible
“And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the son of man had built. And the Lord said, ‘Behold, they are one people, and they have all one language; and this is only the beginning of what they can do; and nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them. Come, let us go down; and there confuse their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech. So the Lord scattered them abroad from there over the face of the earth, and they left off building the city. Therefore its name was called bable, because there the Lord confused the language of all the earth; and from there the Lord scattered them abroad over the face of all the earth.”
Genesis 11:5-9.

Happy reading
I have no idea what Arah is trying to say with the selective texts from the Koran and Bible, but they are just that: very selective.
ReplyDeleteThe Christian God is lazy because he rested on the 7th day? And so...?
There are many passages in the bible which are very similar to Koran section 2:255.
What a bizarre post. :-\
(Although, presumably, people might be able to judge something from the reference to www.evilbible... rather than a link to the real text. There is nothing inherently good or evil about Islam or Christianity. How people chose to interpret the texts underpinning their cultures reflects what THEY are like, not what's in the text - evil or otherwise.)
