Only Israel has more Jewish politicians than the UK?

Old Holborn has a characteristically bizarre article about what he see's as the disproportionate number of Jewish politicians in the UK. However, I'm not entirely sure how he sources his figures as many politicians do not declare their faith.

The danger in these sorts or articles which to be fair are provocative but not anti Semitic is their sweeping generalised nature and one of course needs to be clear to distinguish between a Jew and what I call an Israelite aka as a Zionist. For example although both voted for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and support Israel, I would still distinguish between the rampant Zionism of Ivan the Terrible and David Milliband who is Jewish but in my opinion not an overt Zionist despite sailing close to the Israelite wind with his support for Israeli War Criminals. Naturally, if the UK had two Zionist Ministers in the Foreign Office I would be the first to shout from the rafters.

With regard to faith, London Muslim would much prefer on issues such as Palestine to have a Jewish Gerald Kaufman rather than a Muslim Khalid Mahmood in the House of Commons.

My view about the success of any particular group be it for example a Chinese kid excelling in education or Jews appearing to be well represented politically is to congratulate and try and emulate rather than appear to carp Jealously.

However, I do acknowledge that while there is a huge repositioning of Jewish thinking in the US towards Israel, particularly after Gaza notably through J Street I don't detect a similar shift in British Jewish thinking which sadly is still reflected by the vile and shrill opinions of Melanie Phillips, David Toube at Harry's Place and perhaps the Sheep Shagger who is yet to out himself and declare his faith.
