The mosque has been called a "giant" mosque by the Mail and just to avoid any confusion the reason the Brigadier Hufty Tufty's of the army oppose the construction is because it overlooks the Academy and therefore Muslims would not be praying but working out how we can blow up Sandhurst or perhaps lining up as snipers when HM Liz turns up for a parade inspection.
London Muslim wonders what all the dictators from the Arab world like King Abdullah of Jordan think of this interesting conversation from an academy he and others train at. Nice to know what Sandhurst really thinks of we British Muslims but then given Prince Harry's description of a fellow officer as his "Paki" friend its no surprise that elements of the British Army are still deeply racist.

I am very sorry but British Muslims will have to wake up and as it were "get real". The plain fact is that the only substantial present credible terrorist threat to the UK and indeed the world is a Muslim one. We do not find rabid Christians bombing London buses extreme Hindus placing bombs on the tube or fanatiacl Buddists crashing planes into skyscrapers! Given that the terrorist threat is Muslim threat it is hardly surprising that Muslims are regarded with an understandable degree of suspicion and that there are sensitivities regarding the construction of a Mosque so close to such a high profile target. Furthermore please remember we are still a predominantly white nominally Christian Society and though very liberal (Switzerland has of course banned minarets altogether)our Culture and our heritage deserve at least equal respect which is not very evident in your piece! I am not one of the "if you don't like it go home" Brigade but I do find myself hurt and upset as do many people I know by comments like yours when it is self evident that no one would even dare plan the construction of a Christian Cathedral in most Moslem countries.
ReplyDeleteAs a Muslim why in God's name do we always have to make a big issue about these things. Why cant we agree to scale down the mosque of leave out the minarets. Its like the plans for the mega-mosque in Stratford - what is the need to antagonise people and their prejudices by creating a huge controversy that does no good for inter-communal relations. We dont need huge Mosques to worship the creator and we dont need any more anti-Muslim sentiments.
ReplyDeleteYou are a fool for pulling the race card here. How is the opposition to a mosque in such close proximity to a major training facility for British soldiers, a race issue? When i last checked, Islam was a religion, not a race.
ReplyDeleteAnd lets not forget, that if some Christians decided to build a church in the middle east, then they would no doubt be executed for blasphemy. So dont try to slate this as racism, when you know damn well that your religion would not tolerate this if the roles were reversed.
the above comments are absolutely spot on. your reporting is more extreme than the daily mail and, as a result, loses you any credibility.
ReplyDeleteIt's about time that the Muslim Council of Britain showed some leadership on matters of integration. The objective must be a European from of Islam that reflects the values of the Enlightenment. The imposition and rigid preservation of Asian customs will only lead to more conflict and tension.
ReplyDeleteIs it racist for questioning why the plans did not feature a car park for the many thousands of worshipers? or racist to ask why a listed building which has stood for hundreds of years needs to be torn down when there's plenty of other land a few minutes away? or racist for someone to say they like their small town as it is without towering structures dominating the skyline?
ReplyDeleteTo most normal people from all backgrounds - your inability to see the other side of the coin makes you the racist one; so blinded by hate for your neighbour that you don't even see the stupidity of your arguments.
You are a fool and an idiot and I really do pity you.
its not racist to want a look out post from a terrorist organisation overlooking a training school for brave men, not cowards, your not welcome here, ur race and religion are gone, they are the modern day nazis, and the world won't be free till every last one is removed
ReplyDeleteThe funny thing is that most of the people who are being portrayed as the Surrey wing of the Al-Qaida are ordinary curry house owning families of Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire etc. The people who are opposing the mosque are also ordinary neighbours and customers of these curry-house owners. It appears these people have been scare-mongered in to taking such actions.
ReplyDeleteMy message to the misguided and miss-informed concerned people who oppose the mosque is that the people who will go to the mosque is the very ordinary, Ali, Abdul, or Miah from your local curry house. You are more likely to be harmed by their over-dose of chillies in your chicken-tikka-massala than with an Ak47.
It is not racist but certainly Islamophobic. I doubt the local Muslims would have been able to even purchased the old school today, in this climate of fear, miss-information, dis-trust and fear-mongering.
