London Muslim is rather disappointed with you lot for some of the rather personal comments made about Maryam Khan the Labour candidate for Bury North.
Maryam is exactly what the Muslim community needs in terms of successful role models, a young Muslim female hopefully making a success in her chosen career path of politics. Maryam outlines her political vision here.
Regardless of your political viewpoint lets accept and congratulate Maryam for pursuing her political ambition and inshallah helping Muslims along with Non Muslims in her community.
what a load of bull!!! London Muslim doesn't have a clue, if you want to discuss the real Maryam Khan, and not the fake bull that you see on the news, internet etc then maybe you should speak to those who know her well enough to know what and who she really is.

I was hoping Labour would win a seat in this constituency, anything to avoid a conservative overall majority.

I strongly question the motives of Maryam Khan. She claims to be a solicitor, was she not a very good one or did no law firm take her on? Or was she tempted by the more than double salary of an MP? She claims she wants to bring fairness and equality to the people of Bury North. If that is really what she wanted then she would have remained a solicitor and actually fought for the people of Bury North in the courts and tribunals, as and when people suffered injustice. That is how you make a REAL difference. Everyone knows politicians are as useful as chocolate teapots. We have had reams of equality legislation over the past 13 years, but the slippery lawyers & barristers( a step above a solicitor)still go for the big bucks offered by big companies and subvert the course of justice. If Maryam had any genuine talent or desire to help people she could have reversed the trend and made the legal system a lot fairer. The legal system (or rather the corrupt lawyers) is probably the only thing worse than political system.
