I would have agreed with you prior to the release of the Respect manifesto the other day.
Having a clear and assertive hijab clad woman in Parliament would have been an excellent role model for British Muslim women and probably do everyone a lot of good, almost regardless of how SWP inclined her political views might (or might not) be.
Almost.
At the manifesto launch, the Respect spokeswoman accused the Lib Dems of having opposed the Iraq War before it started - but then switching sides & supporting it immediately it started. !!!
Anyone who can't tell the difference between "supporting the Iraq War" and "supporting the unfortunate men and women who get sent to fight in a war you still totally disapprove of" is either very dim indeed - or just as dishonest as the people who brought you the dodgy dossier on Iraq's mythical WMDs.
Dim or dishonest? Neither should be in Parliament.
London Muslim with a left of center political agenda but dont let that put you off.
I write about issues the mainstream Murdoch agenda ignores and more than happy to also take on the tiny minority of vociferous fruitcakes in my own community.
In addition I'm a long suffering supporter of QPR. So, a Muslim with a sense of humour
