The Father of Aqsa Parvez talked about an insult and embarrassment in the community for the failure of a daughter to wear a Hijab yet proceeds to strangles her shows some fatally flawed thinking where his mental state of mind should also have been examined.

Islamic law prescribes death penalty for murder. I say kill him.
ReplyDeleteI would have killed myself first before I dreamt of killing my own children. Why do these people leave their villages for money if they were not psychos like their actions in a foreign country?
ReplyDeleteThe scary part is that it is not just the father, but many of the same relatives carrying the same crooked village DNA encouraged him.
Are you suggesting that such "honour" killings have nothing to do with Islam but the insanity of the individuals?
ReplyDeleteStrange that they only seem to occur in Muslim families. Once again, there is a level of delusion in the community.
Well all the time muslim men think they own their wives and daughters this problem will continue.
ReplyDeleteI never understand why muslims live in western society if they hate it so much. There's many countries in the world with a strict islam culture. Why not live in one of those and then the men would be praised for killing their female children for showing a little bit of hair or flesh.
It's all about CONTROL NOT FAITH : (
It is highly questionable whether Aqsa Parvez was killed "for refusing to wear a hijab". Though this was the media spin put on her tragic death in 2007, as an explanation for her death it is a best oversimplified.
ReplyDeleteThe young woman at whose house Aqsa was staying after leaving her own home stated at the time of Aqsa's death that the hijab was not a major cause of conflict between Aqsa and her family. http://bit.ly/aWKRi9
According to one report, the issue of the hijab had arisen in 2006 but had been resolved after Aqsa left home on an earlier occasion: "Upon her return, her mother took her shopping for Western clothes and she was allowed to attend school in non-traditional clothes."

The conflict would appear to have been a much broader one between a young woman who wanted to live a westernised lifestyle and a culturally conservative family who regarded her behaviour as an attack on the family's honour.
The reason why the media seized on the hijab issue as the motive for Aqsa's killing is not hard to identify. It was an attempt to pin the blame on Islam as part of an ongoing campaign against Muslims and multiculturalism.
"Are you suggesting that such 'honour' killings have nothing to do with Islam but the insanity of the individuals? Strange that they only seem to occur in Muslim families."
ReplyDeleteWhat a stupid comment. There are numerous examples of "honour killings" among Hindus in India. Such murders are, however, almost unknown in Indonesia, the country with the largest Muslim population in the world.
Multiculturalism should mean the mixing of cultures. Until the Muslim community stops being so insular and mixes with the wider population there will always be trouble. Inter marriage is the answer as much as most of you hate the idea.
ReplyDelete"Honour" killings are not part of Islam. Anyone wih some basic knowledge on the subject will know this. If you think they are part of the religion, then provide the evidence to support it.
ReplyDeleteTake a look at India and it's honour killings to realise that this is a cultural practice.
Perhaps the wider population needs to look at all the wonderful ground work it put in when the first immigrants arrived in this country? Go and watch the series called "Windrush" about the West Indian experience and then talk to the Asian community about how they were "included" and treated as "equals" before talking about "mixing".
Inter marriage isn't the answer: "By World War II, any form of intimate relationship between a white woman and non-white man was often considered offensive" - reference to the UK. Go and see the Muslim community in Cambridge and look at the number of marriages between people of different countries and cultures. You'll be astonished.
