DeleteI am a muslim but by God do I hate muslims sometimes! The hate and spiteful vindictive comments that spout from your mouths! Anybody else commenting about us in this way would be labelled islamophobic. And yet do we respect someone's right to choose whether they follow our culture or Islam? Don't they have the freedom to embrace whatever philosophy they want? Isn't this why our Britain is better than most muslim nations out there because they respect individual choice? Konnie Huq chooses to marry whomever she wants and adopt whatever lifestlyle suits her just as you are free to do so with your prejudiced and bigoted comments.

I am an atheist for many reasons but one of them is because I hear religious people saying things like 'Let Allah be the judge' or 'God is love', and then they plunge right on in and judge and criticize.

In regards to Konnie Huq. She is nominally muslim. That means she is just born into a 'muslim' family.
Most families have someone in their families who are like Konnie Huq.
Muslims are not allowed opinions - they are deemed judgemental - so the Athiests start using the muslims teachings etc to criticise and judge them.
So carry on athiests judge us, thats all you have.
Of course we can judge you considering the prejudice and bigotry Muslims in general wield. Looking down your noses at people, judging them and believing yourselves to be better when infact those who judge happen to be bigger Mushrikeen.

It's her life and she is entitled to live it as she sees fit. At the end of the day, do you honestly think she gives a crap about what any of you moaners are saying? Of course not..so to all those moany muslims out there, calling her a 'slag' or whatnot, go suck on it. She is Cambridge educated, talented and successful, which is more than can be said for alot of British Muslims (especially the poor, backward religious ones from the East End) who expect to be able to sit on their arse, pop out broods of children, collect $$$ of benefits from th state and import non-english spouses from the motherland.
ReplyDeleteShe is more British than she is Bangladeshi Muslim, so it seems that she and her husband are very compatible in terms of smarts, success, finances, values and outlook, all the important things to consider in a marriage.
Maybe she still considers herself a muslim but just doesn't see it as being particularly important in her life. Maybe she is not a muslim, but due to the tribal 14th century mentality of many muslims (killing/ostracising apostates) is better of not saying so. Who can blame her for not wanting to marry such muslims? As someone I watched on TV growing up, I wish her the very best.

That is absolute rubbish. My grandfather who was a very religious muslim as a young man, became an avowed atheist by the time he had reached his 40s. You know why? Education and seeing through religious indoctrination!

Konnie is an embarressment to Muslim women, for the way she is dressed and for the comments that she says on xtra factor. It is understandable to a degree that it is her profession and she cannot always wear perhaps what she should wear i.e:- dressing modestly however why does she have to dress so in-appropriately? And these comments mentioned above are not "slagging" konnie, they are merely expressing their opinons and values as being a Muslimas simply due to them feeling what she is doing is morally and religiously incorrect in terms of being Muslim. But in any case it can be debatable whether she is Muslim by sheer name only? She needs to present this to the public to be open with what she really is...

Actually, islamically (that is if Konnie considers herself a muslim) it is perfectly alright for Konnie to marry Charlie Brooker even though he is not a muslim.

So basically all Konnie (or any muslim women for that matter) would need to do is have sex with her non-muslim/atheist boyfriend and then marry them. Voila, it's simple. Their marriage is then completely islamically valid.
So I don't know why you have such a problem with her marriage LM. Are you claiming that the words of the Koran are wrong LM? Careful there, by doing so you are questioning the legitimacy of Allah's word and thus declaring yourself an apostate.

ReplyDelete1. Like it or not, Ms Huq does not wear proper Islamic clothing. She does not cover her hair or her body modestly. I have no evidence as to whether she prays, fasts, pays her zakaah, and has correct belief. To be clear, I have no evidence that she does not do these things. One shouldn't assume that she doesn't pray, just because she doesn't cover herself properly. As of today, however, I have no evidence that Charlie Brooker is a Muslim. So, on what is apparent, Konnie Huq married a man who is not Muslim. Oh dear.
2. When a Muslim "judges" another Muslim, it is important to distinguish what type of judgment this is. In this world, one simply uses the criterion of the legislation of Islam. In this way, if it happens that "Person X committed adultery" then they have committed adultery. Fact. If a woman doesn't cover her hair and in fact shows her breasts publicly, that's certainly something prohibited. But the FINAL judgment is after we die. This is an important distinction to make.
3. The issue of "no compulsion in religion" is a misnomer. If you're going to use that verse, first of all narrate it in FULL. The rest of it is "truth has indeed become distinct from falsehood. So whoever disbelieves in all false objects of worship, and believes in Allah, then he(or she) has grasped the most trustworthy handhold which is impossible to break." (Qur'an 2:256) As for using this verse to say that people can do whatever the hell they want, then no. One of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah drank alcohol, and he was lashed for it. People started to slag him off, and it is reported that the Messenger, peace and prayers be upon him, said "Do not revile him, for verily he loves Allah and His Messenger." In another narration, it is reported that he, upon him prayers and peace, said "If Fatimah the daughter of Muhammad committed theft, I would cut her hand."
4. With respect to declaring a Muslim an apostate, this is VERY dangerous. It is not to be done without first establishing the conditions of takfeer, and removing the obstacles. One such obstacle is ignorance. Declaring a Muslim an apostate is not done by any Tom, Dick or Harry, or Ahmad, Amr or Zayd for that matter.
5. Where Ms Huq is concerned, she makes me sad, and she makes me angry. Sad because she is clearly not on the path that she should be on (this is evident from the way she dresses and her well-known idiotic statement that she considers herself "a relaxed Muslim", implying that all other Muslims are maniacs). And she makes me angry because she has a relatively high public profile, so her speech and actions can therefore constitute a cause of misguidance. Some Muslims may be fooled into taking her as some kind of role model, and people who are not Muslim may assume "oh well y'know, it's a broad church, innit? I mean, Konnie Huq's muzlim, an' she don't wear a scarf. She didn't marry a muzlim neither." It is one thing to slag her off. Clarifying whatever errors she may commit is a different matter.
So May Allah guide me, and Ms Huq and all the Muslims, to the truth and grant us divine success to follow it. He is the best to ask for anything.
