The gist of the article seems to be how Thompson's mates get really ticked off by nutty orthodox Jewish behaviour in Stamford Hill. My advice to Damian Thompson is try being a Palestinian for a day to really understand about what its like to face Jewish racism which affects both Muslims and Christians rather than worry about the odd behaviour of Stamford Hill Jews.

ReplyDeleteNope - can't think of any Jews I know who feel any degree of racial intolerance or disharmony towards Christians. Indeed, we are such a minority in the UK, that most of our friends hail from other faiths.
And whilst we're slinging a little mud around, what about the friendly and equable fashion in which Christians are treated in most Islamic countries?
Um . . . I was being a tad sarcastic here. As we all know, Christians are not usually given much leeway to practise their faith in an open manner if they're unfortunate enough to live in an Islamic state.
And the Palestinian comment?
Well, my cousin's daughter was killed on a Tel Aviv bus several years ago, which tends to make many of us wary. And perhaps, if Hamas stopped lobbing rockets at Israeli Old Folks homes and schools, then some degree of mutual understanding might be reached, or at Least, I truly hope so. It would be so nice to live in peace and religious tolerance, but I don't really see this sentiment echoed by many Muslims.

These days if you so much as slightly grimace at a Jew, it is considered an anti-semitic incident! You really need to stop wallowing in self-pity, not just for you're own sake but also for the sake of world peace!
As for Palestine...the odd dead Israeli doesn't compare favourably with continual massacres, the illegal land grabbing, the denial of basic human rights,etc etc that Palestinians have to endure...(I've heard the chants of Israeli crowds "Kill Arabs! Kill Arabs!").
You really need to face the fact that Israel is not really interested in peace but just wants to push out the Arabs (ethnically cleanse) and it is very much a racist,terrorist state.
