Tories to restrict Stop and Search of Muslims

London Muslim welcomes the decision of Theresa May the Home Secretary to restrict the use of stop and search powers which Police use to harass largely innocent Muslims.

Section 44 of the Terrorism Act introduced by New labour is a nasty piece of legislation that allows Police to criminalise and alienate the Muslim community which is presumably why the European Court of Human found it illegal.

Regarding the politics I find it strange that it takes a Tory Home Secretary to introduce a civil liberty measure and the Postman from the Labour Party Alan Johnson to oppose the measure. Alan Johnson and Labour should be ashamed of themselves for opposing this decision.
