A study published by the Lancet shows that Muslim kids from Bangladeshi and Pakistani backgrounds were most at risk from the 2009 swine flu outbreak.
Th study seems to leave unexplained why these Muslim kids along with those that had a underlying health problems were most at risk and LM wonders if one possible reason could be due to the high proportion of children whose parents were part of first cousin marriages.

Would there be any connection to muslims never having eaten pork, so haven't built up immunity?

Or is it because they are not indigenous to Britain, and so have no protection, as the indigenous population have past relatives who have been in the 1918 epedemic so have some immunnity? i.e. My grandfather had flu that year, so perhaps the immunity passes on through generations. They'll all be alright once they've lived here a hundred years or more, and through the generations become more immune.
And of course your theory of close relative marriage might be the obvious cause, already many health problems, and the swine 'flu is the one that kills them.
Aah yes, riding the hysterical hobby horse a la Don Quixote - what need for any scientific proof when mere conjecture will suffice?
