The usual suspects on the Tory backbenches Greg Knight, Andrew Rossindale and the Lizard Phillip Hollobone have expressed outrage at the provision of halal food in the House of Commons.
LM is not amused that right wing white men in suits continue to highlight and target halal slaughter under the guise of animal welfare yet presumably are not vegetarian or oppose Angling the favourite English "sport" because its what some white English Male constituents enjoy doing ie causing pain to animals as "sport".
The best way to establish the hypocrisy and racism of these MP's who claim animal welfare as their defence is to examine what they do when presented with a free vote to repeal the 2004 Hunting Act which all appear to have indicated they will not vote against.

And then a link from the British Veterinary Association, that regulates abbatoirs. http://www.bva.co.uk/activity_and_advice/1444.aspx I think you'll read they are against any slaughter without stunning first. But you know better you are trained in animal welfare I'm sure, especially as you know so much about fish and their well being.
And talking of hunting, there is possibly a few hundred fox's killed every year by hunting, there are several million animals slaughtered by the halal/kosher method. A wild fox is killed in seconds, and a tame domesticated farm animal takes minutes to die in pain and shock, but hey let anyone do what they like here.
After all british tradition must be trashed in favour of any foreign custom you care to throw in. As long as it's not upsetting a muslim, anything goes here now, it's sickening. Just like the barbaric practice of halal/kosher slaughter, that may be necessary in the wilds of the third world countries that this practice was invented, but you're supposed to be living in a modern country now, with facilities not to administer cruelty to farm animals.
The battle was fought for centuries here to treat animals in a better way, to care for them, even at death, but a load of foreigners come in here shout their heads off, about their rights, and hey presto off we go following some third world practice.

People who complain at Halal are usually just bigots and racists who want to attack Muslims.
ReplyDelete90% of Halal meat is stunned first (electrical reversible stunning acceptable to Muslims). All slaughter involves slitting the animals throat and draining the blood while the animal is still alive. Most people are not vegetarians and so complicit in this. I wonder how many people give a toss how their Christmas turkey died?

^No you're wrong there, I am against animal testing for cosmetics which I notice muslim woman always adorn their eyes with to bring attention to them. Other experiments for medical research I'm not against.

Open your eyes. Millions of animals killed on a farm, killed for sport, killed because they don't fit in, killed because they're in the way, killed because they don't blend in to the garden, etc. You shouldn't just believe something because it's written down.

Strange that when the Jews have been engaging in their Halakah & Shechita, for hundreds of years in the UK, which is at least as "scary", the elephant was in the room, not a whimper from Mr & Mrs outraged.
