Wearing the Niqab (Burka) in London

Nosheen Iqbal writes a very interesting and informative article about those sisters who wear the Niqab which is well worth a read.

I like the analogy that wearing a hijab is viewed as a bit of "Punk" and increasingly being seen now as a fashionable and cool accessory.

  1. Yeah but that's nothing to do with the modesty of islam is it? It's about being cool trendy in with the in crowd nothing to do with piety, just like ole Cheries sister, a style setter!

  2. I can sympathise that for some the Hijab is a rebellious symbol of the underdog.
However, there are many reasons & to discount the primary spiritual one of modesty & self-respect opting out of the demeaning "For sale" cattle flesh market is one-sided. As for the crowd, modern corporate pop-culture, supported by megabuck PR campaigns, the in-crowd is surely exposing your self?
