Lutfur Rahman: Muslim of the Year 2010

Lutfur Rahmam the new Independent Muslim Mayor of Tower Hamlets in London is my Muslim of the Year for 2010 despite the strong claim of Sayeeda Warsi.

LM's regular readers will know that earlier in the year I was a strong supporter of Lutfur's campaign to initially be Labour's candidate in Tower Hamlets before a combination of Muslim snakes in the guise of Helal Abbas and Rusharnara Ali as well as parasites and Israelites like Gilligan and Edward Jeory did all they could to help the NEC remove Rahman as Labour's candidate.

What was remarkable about the successful campaign by Rahman is how despite his myriad nature of influential political enemies he took the political bull by the horns and defeated them all. What scares the jeepers out of the white male Judeo Christian establishment is a Muslim in a suit and without a beard taking political power through entirely legitimate democratic means. Lutfur Rahman is not a loud mouth bearded rabble rousing munafiqeen so loved by the media but ironically and not entirely to my liking a bit of a Blairite who is closely associated with David Milliband and supported his campaign to be leader of the Labour Party.

The establishment love Muslim bearded nutters because it coincidentally suits the narrative of defending society from extreme violent fruitcakes and helps build their broader view about the need for a new world order hidden behind a strong security establishment with civil liberties an alien concept.

Lutfur had everything but the kitchen sink thrown at him because unlike the beards this concept of a politically active and engaged Muslim in a suit is a real danger to the political status quo. The political and media establishment via Murdoch can handle the image of suicide bombers and the Taliban but a Muslim Democrat is what they really fear although will never admit to it.

Despite all manner of tired old accusations about Islamism and extremism when LM visited East London last week for a curry I don't recall seeing any floggings or public executions as some would have you believe. Lufur Rahman has done an enormous service showing Muslims how to take on our political enemies and established the political model for success through ensuring London in 2012 is back in the hands of Ken Livingstone when the real political battle begins.
