Tackling Islamophobia

Bob Lambert writes an outstanding article in the Staggers about the rising hate and Islamophobia in the UK.

A number of issues highlighted by Bob Lambert and his team of researchers at the Uni of Exeter will be raised at a conference on racism and Islamophobia in London on 11 December which has a number of a shadow Ministers and Ken Livingstone speaking and is well worth attending.

  1. Interesting.

Have you read the Stagger's readers comments on this "outstanding" article?

    They overwhelmingly say it’s rubbish.

  2. Just clear something up for me. What exactly is wrong with Islamophobia? After rational critiquing of the Islamic religion, it is quite possible to dislike it, as it is possible to dislike Christianity, Judaism, Fascism, Marxism, Zionism, Objectivism and any other man-made ideology that serves the interests of only a powerful few. That's my prerogative and my right. So what exactly is wrong with that? I agree, that hating Muslims for the fact of being muslim is not right, but why is it so wrong to hate Islam itself?

  3. "As to islamophobia, there is a hilarious passage in this document where the 'researchers' give an account of interviews with British Muslims where none of the intervewees apparently have any personal experience of actual Islamophobia! They then attribute this to some kind of failure of consciousness. Great stuff."
