Scholars support Muslims Voting in the UK

Leading Muslim scholars have supported the concept of the Muslim community voting in a general election.

Sadly it goes to show how ignorant and backward our community is that we need scholars to tell us to vote but then that's probably why the Muslim community is politically and economically in the gutter.

Muslim Lawyer stabbed to death in London

A Human rights lawyer for the charity Redress has been stabbed to death in London.

Abdel Salem Hassan Abdel Salam was only 56 when he was killed.

Kidnapped Sahil found safe

The little Muslim kid Sahil Saeed who was kidnapped in Pakistan has been found safe and well.

The family and the boy must have endured a traumatic time while he was kidnapped so well done to the authorities for finally finding him.

London Muslim is however also concerned for the many other Pakistani's that seem to go missing some kidnapped and never returned to their family's.

Sadiq Khan MP repays £2500

News is breaking that Sadiq Khan, MP for Tooting and Transport Minister has been caught being a bit economical with the truth and as a result has to repay over £2,000 in parliamentary expenses with Guido calling for blood.

London Muslim likes Sadiq despite him being a Liverpool supporter and urged Gordon Brown to promote him to the Cabinet. Sadiq has always opposed the Iraq War, is a member of the Labour Friends of Palestine although went a bit wobbly on 42 days.

My real concern is with the current lack of senior Muslim politicians virtually all seem to have had their trouble with the authorities in one way or the other including Shahid Malik who was cleared, Baroness Uddin and Lord Ahmad who managed to kill another driver.

Luciana Berger does working class in Liverpool Wavertree

Following her controversial appointment in Liverpool Wavertree which has set the cat amongst the pigeons for a number of reasons least of all her ignorance of who Bill Shankley was her campaign is rapidly unravelling.

Bungling Berger's latest wheeze after her cunning visit to meet Muslims in Liverpool was uncovered by the Daily Mail where she has ditched her classy car for a working class car and changed her expensive personalised number plate to convince scousers she's one of the Proletariat rather than a rich Blairite Londoner.

London Muslim also finds it interesting that while I have criticised the mainstream Murdoch press and media for ignoring Bergers curious selection and dual loyalties to Israel it was the Daily Mail that investigated this story and more importantly ran with it despite the inevitable phone calls the editor may be receiving this morning from amongst others the British Board of Deputies for Jews.

Non Muslims using Sharia law in the UK

London Muslim almost choked on my tea when I read that the Muslim Arbitration Panel have reported a 15% rise in the number of Non Muslims using Sharia arbitration panels.

Can you imagine the reaction of the Islamophobes over at the Center for lack of Social Cohesion who must be having kittens at the thought of Non Muslims increasingly taking to Islamic law.

UK Halal Poultry "falsely labelled"

London Muslim is concerned with the rather shallow debate that often covers discussion about the provision of Halal Food in the UK.

Currently the type of coverage is between those who object to Halal food under any circumstances and those that are engaged in ensuring a wider provision.

However, my concern is ultimately about the authenticity of the claims that the food we Muslims are eating is halal at all. A recent report has indicated up to three quarters of the poultry we eat is falsely labelled as halal because the slaughter method adopted is by machine which scholars have rejected as Haram.

Clearly we Muslims need some reassurance that the food we eat is actually halal.

Muslim Gangs take charge of UK Prisons

The BBC has a disturbing report about the growing influence of violent and extreme Muslim gangs forcibly taking control of life within UK prisons.

London Muslim uses the term "disturbing" in a different context than perhaps many readers. Frankly I am fairly sanguine although don't condone violence within a prison because anyone with a bit of common sense will realise prisoners are not members of the Bullingdon Club. Some prisoners are violent individuals and as a result violence is a daily occurrence within the four walls of a jail. In this context the brutish BNP/EDL sympathising thugs who also inhabit prisons need to realise Muslims can and will defend themselves.

My real difficult is about what appears to be the violent forced conversion of individuals who seem desperate for protection by Muslim gangs. Forced violent conversions have nothing to do with Islam and those Muslims that indulge in such practices need to stop forthwith. In these circumstances one wonders where the Muslim Prison Imams are and what they are doing to prevent these forced conversions. Yes explain the beauty of Islam for those genuinely interested in exploring our faith and want guidance but don't give succour to our enemies who delight in regaling how Islam is only spread by the sword.

More generally the growing Muslim prison population is also a sad indictment of our own community. There is no excuse for crime particularly if you call yourself Muslim and while those inside seem to think its worthy to beat four bells out of those who "disrespect" Islam they may like to ponder on the Nazi's who disrespect our faith on the outside by marching on our mosques.

London Muslim urges Muslim prisoners to seek Allah (swt) forgiveness for the crimes they have committed, clean themselves up and help those of us on the outside who defend our mosques with comrades on the left from the Anti Fascist and Trade Union movement. There is a job to be done on the outside which requires our Muslim Prison brothers to do their porridge and then defend our communities starting with Bolton.
