Tesco open another Halal Store

Tesco have opened its second Halal meal counter at the Birmingham Hodge Hill store.

London Muslim wrote about the first store also in Birmingham and wonder when they will begin to start rolling out Halal at London stores for the 1 million Muslims who live here.

Asda have started in London and while I accept Tesco have strong ties to Israel and as a result Muslim requirements have never traditionally been a priority I wonder if there is any other reason why they appear reluctant to introduce Halal only meat counters in London?

Watford Labour and Tory Candidates get desperate

Neil Skinner over at the Watford Rag writes about Labour's Claire Ward and the Tories Richard Harrington getting rather exercised about some leaflets which simply highlight their political record. Skinner ridiculously tries to invert the true purpose of the leaflets by alleging they focus on the candidates weakness on "Islamic issues".

Skinner, don't be silly, as I say all the leaflets do is factually highlight that Labour's Claire Ward has amongst other things voted for all Blair's War's and is an expenses Trougher while Tory Harrington was the former Chair of the Conservative Friends of Israel (CFI), factual rather than "Islamic" issues.

The leaflets are not "shameful" but the record of Claire Ward is as well as Tory Harrington's membership of CFI which is why both are set to lose to the outstanding Lib Dem candidate Sal Brinton. Moreover, what is equally shameful is Skinner's journalism which manages to let the Tory get away without challenge that by virtue of his chairmanship of the CFI he has "moderate views on the Middle East".

Characters like Skinner infect local journalism throughout London and can be found at the Ilford Recorder, East London Advertiser and Watford Observer, ironically areas with significant Muslim populations. The ultimate dream is to do a Ted Jeory and be elevated to the Excrement but they need to be monitored to ensure they don't use the Muslim community as a stepping stone or punch bag for their own personal aspirations.

Lee Scott the Tory MP for Ilford North has sadly been on the receiving end of death threats and disgusting anti Semitic abuse.

London Muslim posted a video of the Israelite Lee Scott defending his Conservative Friend of Israel record and denouncing Palestinians as "Terrorists". Let's be clear Lee Scott is a vile right wing Israeli supporting MP who needs to be politically destroyed at the ballot box by Ilford's 18,000 Muslims particularly when the Labour Party have an outstanding candidate in Sonia Klein.

However, let me be equally clear that Muslims should understand political argument, discussion and debate should never deteriorate into racist abuse or even worse threatening a Jewish politician with his life in front of his family. Madeleine Kirk the outstanding Lib Dem candidate in York Outer has always been a strong supporter of the Palestinian cause.

One of her opponents is Labour's James Alexander a person who is a case study in everything that is wrong with New Labour and the political class. Alexander is well known in West London for being a Geek who left Uni to work for the Labour Party and has never had a real job yet wants to be an MP. His only claim to fame is being beaten up and mugged in West London when working for a Labour MP.

London Muslim admires Madeline Kirk over her passionate support for justice and the rights of the Palestinians. However, occasionally her passion gets the better of her as highlighted by Israel's mates in the Jewish Chronicle who are understandably unhappy at mention of a "Jewish Lobby". I also disagree with Madeline and Jenny Tongue about allegations that Israel harvested the organs of Palestinians.

York Outer is a three way marginal, however, with Labour putting up a derisory candidate, Madeline Kirk should be yet another pro Palestinian MP in the next Parliament.

My main concern is her lack of transparency. Take a look at her blog, for a woman who is the Director of the Labour Friends of Israel why does she not have the honesty to explain her LFI role rather than the cowardly coded phrase that she works for a "not for profit campaigning and education organisation which works for peace in the Middle East". She comes clean under her declaration of interest though as the "Director of the Labour Friends of Israel"

Luciana you are going to suffer a crushing defeat to the Lib Dems not necessarily because of your incompetence, LFI role or that you were parachuted into Liverpool by your Blairite mates but because Liverpudlians can smell a secretive Political Rat when they see one. Perhaps one day when she boards her next El Al Flight to the colonial occupiers and War Criminals in Israel she can return to explaining why Harry's Place is also her favourite blog, something surprise surprise she again avoids mentioning during this doomed campaign.

The Tory candidate Richard Harrington is even worse as a senior figure within the Conservative Friends of Israel. The previous Tory candidate for Watford is a convicted criminal.

Watford is a three way marginal with the Muslim vote a crucial 10% which is why London Muslim urges all Watford Muslims to vote for Lib Dem candidate Sal Brinton. Sal missed out by only a few hundred votes at the last election and simply needs a 2% swing to send a friend of Muslims rather than Israel to Parliament.

Luciana Berger uses the "Racist" card

London Muslim thought it would only be a matter of time before the Director of the Labour Friends of Israel, Luciana Berger resorted to smearing her opponents as "racist" and by implication anti Semitic for highlighting her Israelite record.

I am genuinely saddened but as I say not surprised that Berger and her fellow Israelite Louise Ellman use the racist card because it indicates the measure of despair within their respective campaign teams as both head for crushing defeats against Lib Dem opponents. Anti Semitism is a serious crime which should not be used as a cloak by political opportunists to close down debate on Israel's crime against the Palestinians or those who support Israel's conduct.

Just for the record what constitutes racism in Berger and Ellman's opinion is hilariously any leaflet that says "Don't vote for Friends of Israel". Clearly a desperate ploy by a desperate woman who can scent the winds of change about to democratically and politically blow away Israelites like her.

Rather than pathetically claiming that she "May" contact the Police who would probably charge her with wasting valuable Police time why does she not have the courage of her previous conviction to openly and transparently defend her Directorship of the Labour Friends of Israel rather than suspiciously avoiding any mention of the word Israel in her blog.

Lynne Jones the Labour MP for Selly Oak has followed the lead of London Muslim and backed Salma Yaqoob to defeat Labour's Roger Godsiff in Birmingham Small Heath. In addition, Lynne who lives in the constituency has made it clear she will vote for Salma.

London Muslim believes it is vitally important for the Muslim and Non Muslim community to see Muslim political female role models arguing and debating in the ultimate political chamber the House of Commons.

While I may not always agree with for example a Sayeeda Warsi the manner in which she swatted away Nazi Nick on Question Time has led to convulsions within the BNP and plots to oust him an indication of what a Political Muslim Sister can achieve. Who knows just imagine a hung parliament with Sister Salma holding the balance of power.

Sadiq Khan invites David Miliband to Tooting

London Muslim has a lot of time for Sadiq Khan which is why I was the first to campaign for his elevation to the Cabinet.

My support is not on the basis of Sadiq being a Muslim or the son of a bus driver who has made good but because he has promoted the cause of Muslims within the Labour Party as his Fabian pamphlet and membership of the Labour Friends of Palestine proves.

Sadiq makes mistakes like all politicians however, London Muslim fails to understand why David Miliband was asked by Sadiq to visit Tooting. Miliband as I have made clear on numerous occasions has always acted as an Israeli Foreign Secretary rather than simply acting as a British Foreign Secretary. Milliband never criticises Israel for Nuclear ambiguity but does not miss a trick to express concern and a desire for sanctions on Iran due to its Nuclear ambition.

What on earth possessed Sadiq to behave so irresponsibly. While he is fighting for his political life in Tooting and a Met Investigation into his expenses one would think he had the political nounce to not invite a Foreign Secretary whose nose has been up Israel's arse for far to long.

Initially I thought the idea of our dim wits in the Keystone cops handing over the entire data from the personal files of British Muslims studying at UCL had to be an April Fool. Sadly this is no April fool.
