A 12 year old American Muslim girl from Maryland was reduced to tears when she was refused permission to play the first half of a basketball game because the referee deemed her Hijab a "safety risk".
While common sense eventually prevailed and Maheen Haq was allowed to play in the second half LM notes the fantastic support provided by the other parents who were willing to pull their own daughters out of the game in solidarity with Haq.

I'm really over this health risk for wearing a hijab or a niqab.
ReplyDeletepeople wear caps, hair ties, necklaces, rings, head bands they should all be banned too if they stop a girl who covers from playing
Sadly, I can't understand why Moslems cannot live in peace with the society at large. If the rule says you can' wear a hijab when you are in the basketball court, why go against the rule.
