John Mohammed Butt has led a fairly remarkable life which has seen the former Peace, love and dope taking hippy transformed into an Islamic scholar.
A graduate from the Darul Uloom Deoband School he went off to the Pathan North West Frontier Province for a bit of dope and stayed amongst the tribes for almost 40 years before life became more dangerous with the introduction of the Taliban.
His current plans to set up an Islamic University in Jalalabad have created tensions with the Taliban so while LM wishes him the best his story is amazing but perhaps for this cynic suspiciously too amazing.
