Noor Inayat Khan was a remarkable Indian Muslim woman who joined the British to fight the Germans and was executed at Dachau concentration camp after she was captured by Nazi's and discovered to be one of Churchill's elite secret agents.
LM has continually highlighted how Muslims sacrificed their lives for the British but have always been overlooked. However, finally and not before time despite regularly being honoured in France as a true heroine Noor Khan is at last to be honoured by a bronze bust in London.
Khan who was tortured for over 10 months by the Gestapo refused to reveal any British secrets is so typical of the gallantry and bravery of Muslims that has been overlooked. Her last word before a Nazi put a gun to her head and pulled the trigger was "liberte". One often wonders how and why we can immediately recall the bravery of for example a Douglas Bader, or recall the story of Anne Frank and Schindler's list but if you are a Muslim and also died in a Nazi concentration camp your story simply gathers dust in a file on a shelf somewhere in Whitehall.

ReplyDeleteHow do you know she is muslim?? Just because she is of indian muslim ancestry (only one her fathers's side, her mother was white) does NOT make her a muslim. She is a muslim only if she believes in the Islamic religion or practises it, of which there is no evidence in th historic records. Equating name + ancestry with religious status does not work.

Her Dad, Hazrat Inayat Khan, was an internationally renowned musician and Sufi. His works provide an important bridgehead between the Muslim and non-Muslim world, and are still in print.

ReplyDeleteTrouble is, others like the Mufti of Jerusalem and the vast majority of other Nazi-supporting muslims tend to deflect the light which should be shone onto the likes of Noor Khan and any other muslims who actually did support the Allies.
As an aside, one wonders rather sadly, if as a Muslim woman, she would be allowed by her family such autonomy and the ability to act as bravely today?

Um . . . as the other poster said, there were no Jews in the SS. Please get your facts right from a reputable historical source, and not the lying, lurid, hate-filled propanganda currently funded either by Iran or Saudi Arabia.
ReplyDeleteIf you research the SS properly through creditable and actual German historical texts, it is made very clear that the SS recruiters used to insist on rigourous investigation into any potential members' family trees to ensure there were no traces of Jewish blood. The SS were the so-called Aryan elite of Hitler's Germany, and anyone with less than proven 'pure' aryan blood and ancestry, was considered untermensch, or less than human, fit only for slavery or death. One of the main tasks of both the SS and Waffen SS was to identify and record Jews or anyone with proven Jewish blood in order to perpetrate the Final Solution.
Having said this, I believe the previous poster also made it quite clear it was not only the Jews who suffered. Gypsies, homosexuals, communists and religious leaders, members of the Russian or Slavic races, the mentally and physically handicapped, and anyone of colour, was deemed less than fit to belong in Hitler's new order for Europe and the German race, and were dispossessed and murdered in their hundreds of thousands.
However, like some of the shameful fundamentalist rhetoric available today, it is undeniably the Jews who were the main target of Hitler and Himmler's personal hatred and the only ones with the terrible privilege of having an entire programme, The Final Solution, drawn up at the Wahnsee Conference in their honour. This is historical fact. In fact, any right-minded, fascist Neo-Nazi would be absolutely horrified at the suggestion there were, God Forbid, any tainted Jews in their racially pure SS.

According to Muslim revisionist history, the was no Final Solution, no Einsatzgruppen, no Babi Yar, no gas vans at Treblinka or chambers at Chelmno, Maidanek or Aushwitz. Jews were sent off to the East for a nice little holiday and it's all their own fault for trying to live any kind of normal lives within Nazi occupied Europe.
You will note the labour camps are grudgingly acknowledged - as are the hundreds of thousands of unlawful deaths by starvation and disease - but only very reluctantly, of course. Someone is a muslim only if they believe in the islamic religion and quran and/or practise islam. It is laughable that you think the religion is transmitted through someone's genes rather than their own personal beliefs. So please provide some proof that Noor Inayat Khan practised/believed in islam or else stop calling her a muslim if you don't have the evidence to back it up.

With regard to Noor Inayat Khan, she was descended from Tipu Sultan ( & descended from the Prophet). Her princely family was strongly Islamic of Sufi inclinations. She was born & raised a Muslim. Therefore, I would say, prove that she rejected Islam.
