EasyJet serves Pork to Jewish Passengers on flight to Israel

EasyJet seems to have taken a leaf out of Ryanair's approach to diversity by serving Jewish passengers with Bacon sandwiches on a flight to Israel.

Apparently, Easyjet claim to serve Kosher however, that did not stop Jewish passengers going hungry because Bacon baguettes and Ham melts are not exactly Kosher.

LM plans to travel to Jordan on the new Easyjet service in the summer so naturally I'll be hoping we Muslims are not treated in the same insensitive manner as Jewish passengers.

  1. Easyjet isn't forcing anyone to eat bacon, people can easily say no or bring their own food. Also not everyone jewish or muslim born observes the dietary requirements, I have met plenty of muslims and jews who enjoy bacon. So stop making this into a bigger thing..

  2. Any sane muslim will not eat Bacon. Which ever muslim eats bacon, is commiting a major sin.

  3. You're assuming everyone born muslim practises or abides by the religion (definitely not true). You'd be surpised at how many nonpractising/lapsed/apathetic muslims, or 'muslims in name only' eat bacon.

Funnily enough it seems that for those lapsed, it's acceptable to drink alcohol or even have a bit of bacon/ham (for those particularly adventurous) but there is general avoidance of pork itself. Why is the smoked stuff more preferable? And why is eating pig more reprehensible to muslims than drinking alcohol?

  4. Where in the Qu'raan does it say Muslims should not drink? The Qu'raan says "Do not become inebriated"...not "Do not drink alcohol"...a piece of excellent advice because drunks can be violent, dangerous, and are prone to causing accidents and behaving badly in general. And where in the Qu'raan does it say Muslim are forbidden to eat Pork? Like Jews they stopped eating it in hot Countries from where they originated because in Ancient times Pigs carried diseases as the meat could not be refrigerated unlike today. It was the sensible thing to do not to eat it. Nothing to do with being "Muslim". And EDUCATE YOURSELF WITH THE QU'RAAN before repeating man-made doctrines and laws!
