LM previously highlighted the increasingly uncertain future for Shia Muslims in Malaysia and before everyone jumps to the immediate sectarian conclusion that LM is a Shia well I'm not.
As my regular readers know LM has enormous admiration for Malaysia and its people which is why the accusations that Shia Muslims are treated worse than non Muslims is upsetting.
A Malaysian Sunni Cleric Mohammed Kusrin Munawi told the Utusan paper "for them the blood of the followers is lawful which means that it is ok to kill Sunnis" so in his opinion they are a security threat to Malaysia. LM is no scholar however, Munawi is spreading hate filled nonsense which in itself is dangerous and ironically a threat to Malaysia's security because it sows discord where currently relative harmony exists.
Shia leaders in Malaysia talk of increasing mass arrests, discrimination and abuse of their children in school who are ridiculed by teachers before their Peers. LM urges the silent majority Malay Sunni community to stop a tiny number of extremists treating minorities like outcasts and while different, nevertheless respect the Shia as our brothers and sisters.
Well Done LM, I am not a Shia either. The current RAND divide & Rule, Sunnis vs Shias, Wahabbis vs Sufis & Arab core vs non-Arab fringes is a cannibalistic fitna. Recall what the hadiths say about sectarianism.
ReplyDeleteIn fact in traditional Islam, the four schools of the Ahl e Sunnah wal Jammah included a fifth i.e. the mainstream Jaafari Shias. Keep the faith. PS even though I am of Hanafi Sufi inclinations, I have mellowed & made many dear Muslim friends from the Wahabbi/Deobandi hues. We are one Ummah in the eyes of enemies too.

I think the shias have been treated unfairly. The prejudice has been engineered by the corrupt Saudi kingdom. Its like the way Muslims in general are considered by no-n Muslims as"not good". What Muslims are not told is that, Shias are a result of the corrupt and murderous Saudi ruling family.
