Philippines must grant independence to Muslim Mindanao

The Philippines Government has finally entered talks with the freedom fighters of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) who sadly but typically have been described as an "Islamic Militant Group" by Kate McGeown from the BBC.

LM has previously highlighted how the MILF are fighting for independence for Muslim Mindanao from the Catholic Philippines Government who have subjugated Muslims for decades and will not stop at anything to derail these talks.

While sadly there appears to be internal fighting within the MILF and MNLF at exactly the wrong time LM nevertheless prays that the peace talks are successful and Muslim Mindanao is granted independence.

  1. You often highlight the muslim-majority region of the Southern Phillipines, without similarly promoting independence for the West Papua Region from the clutches of Indonesia, christian-majority South Sudan from the muslim-dominated North, or even an independent Kurdistan carved from parts of Iraq, Turkey & Iran.

Why don't you support all independence movements equally London Muslim? Granted it is looking very likely that South Sudan will become independent after that referendum, but I'm always amazed at how very narrow your geographic & cultural concerns are London Muslim.

Obviously not all people/cultures/regions and independnce movements are the same in your book. If you cannot respect all people equally, why do you expect others to listen to your concerns.

  2. LM is right, & each case should be judged on its own merit.
So-called Southern Philippines is an incorrect noun, it should be southern Bangsamoro. The region is primarily Malay race & was heavily Muslim before the first Christian Catholic even set about the Spanish Inquisition against the Moors/Moros. The Southern Sultanate was never conquered by the Catholics. Only in the 1940s did the US bloodbath lead to the fall of the Sultan & the hegemony of the Christians. The fanatical Christian converts waged a war of ongoing Ethnic Cleansing & settled the once Muslim areas. Another problem is the vast natural riches.
Irian Jaya (West Papua) is historically part of Indonesia, even under European rule. Remember the tiny island of Timor split in half & the West forcing Indonesia to declare half the tiny island as a separate nation, whereas massive Kashmir is still occupied! How about giving west Bradford independence?

Again you are factually wrong, so-called south Sudan is not a Christian majority region. It is historically part of Sudan, even in colonial times & it is not even a country with its own name!

"Chechnya" is one of the worst cases of Christian persecution with centuries of genocide & in the current war of independence about 10% population slaughtered, with about a third of them being children!

Thanks LM for mentioning what the MSM fails to.

  3. We saw how Islam protects minority-rights in the occupation of East-Timor. The persecution of Christians in Indonesia is still occurring, albeit not with government support. Many of these Christians are ethnic Chinese, so the Malay population should behave cautiously (for obvious demographic reason).

LM you don't think like normal people. Christians liberate; time for Islam to stop repressing. Nonetheless I take time to review your posts. Have a beer on me!

Anonymous: Kosovo has no historical basis outside of Serbian history. Does not stop me supporting the rights of the local population to self-determination. No do you get Southern Sudan...?

    - Yes we know how close the relationship between the British Establishment & the Indonesian Army is.Plus it is interesting the number of senior Christians in the Indonesian ruling elite.

"Christians liberate" - Ha ha love it, what a joke. Bosnia & Chechnya in Europe. Forget about Bliar-Bush, Palestine & the historical record on each continent, including Australasia!

Kosova does have a very solid basis. The Slavs invaded the region centuries after the Illyrians, who happen to be one of the most ancient European peoples.

So-called southern part of Sudan, you were saying?
