A little noticed meeting between two of the most impressive Muslim nations in the world ie Turkey and Malaysia has concluded with a large defence agreement being signed.
The strategic alliance between Turkey and Malaysia is important because it shows the Muslim world how two increasingly assertive and economically prosperous Muslim democracies can forge important relationships that are ultimately beneficial to the entire Muslim world. Rather than Muslim Govt's like Libya killing their own people as Malaysia's PM Najib Razak mentions the aspirations of the people should be taken into account through a genuinely representative system.
Although I have some concerns about how Malaysia's current Govt have treated Anwar Ibrahim, nevertheless LM believes Turkey and Malaysia are role models for the entire Muslim world about democracies underpinned by constitutional and political legitimacy.
