Coca Cola contains alcohol

One of the world's most closely guarded secrets the ingredients that make up Coca Cola has finally been shown to contain alcohol with a very interesting report by Al Jazeera.

It goes without saying that Alcohol is prohibited for all Muslims so go on be honest how many of you have had a can of Coke? LM is not in the least surprised that an Israeli Muslim is suing Coke for "mental anguish".

Coke are putting on a huge marketing effort across the Muslim world to try and convince us that there is nothing to worry about. From Malaysia to interestingly numerous stories in the pro American Middle East press here and here there are articles denying the alcohol link.

Despite the denials this is one Muslim who remains to be convinced that alcohol is not present particularly when the recipe is supposed to be secret so how can we be sure. In addition, considering another multinational giant Nestle revealed their halal sausages contain pork LM is increasingly becoming very concerned over the reliability and suitability about what we Muslims are eating and drinking.

  1. Grapes, fruit, the human body even all "contain alcohol" so wen drawing a line, there needs to be greater distinction - all quantities are banned (as a little of something that intoxicates in greater quantities is haraam), but does that also apply for concentrations, or does the rule work differently there?

People should avoid fizzy drinks etc, but I dont think guesswork at the recipe of a product used 100+ years ago (which also contained other substances since made illegal) is enough to prove it "haraam".

Ofcourse when in doubt it it better to avoid.

  2. The human body produces about an 1oz of natural alcohol in the digestive system everyday ~ it can even be measured using a breathalyser ~ and can make some people a little drunk.

Perhaps medical staff don't want to offend Muslims by letting them in on the biological facts.

Maybe its time Muslims start looking forward, and not 1000 years backwards. That's finished!

  3. Stop doubting as that is haraam too unless you are 100% sure and go up to coca cola and say "sue me if im wrong but you have alchahol in ur drink!" then dont say anything.

  4. Hypocrisy makes me laugh - was in a muslim owned restaurant in the Edgeware Road last week, and saw plenty of muslims knocking back the wine.

Probably the same ones helping themselves to the bacon and sausages at the buffet breakfast in the Hilton Metropole the next morning!

Water intoxicates in greater quantities. You get bloated and don't think straight. How is it not haram?
