Latino Americans are reverting to Islam in growing numbers causing the usual suspects in the FBI to play dirty.
LM has highlighted previously the rapid growth of Islam in Brazil and Ecuador along with this excellent video. There are variety of reasons for the spike in reversions however, one significant reason which cannot be underestimated is Spanish speaking Latinos are returning to their historical and religious roots when the Moors ruled in Islamic Spain.
I urge all to watch this outstanding historical masterpiece and epic documentary by Bettany Hughes about the true Islamic legacy of the Moors which has been systematically erased by the Spanish and of course the English.
Following the inquisition, Muslims were forced to convert, leave then were expelled from Granada in 1609 by Catholics however, there is a growing realisation amongst Latinos about their true beautiful Muslim historical origins in Al Andalus.
Increasingly, thanks to organisations like 1001inventions there is finally a grudging acceptance in the West that Islam and the Moors were responsible for amazing discoveries in Astronomy, Algebra, Chemistry and the introduction of Arab numerals while Europe and the English were going through their "Dark Ages"
Despite the myth pedaled by Hollywood about El Cid, in reality he was a mercenary who fought for money during a civil war by Spaniards basically of two different faiths. Latinos are now discovering that Islam & Muslims enriched Spain and founded cities like Madrid and Valencia with no evidence of forced conversions unlike the Catholic forced conversions of Izabella and Ferdinand.
Islam and the Moors brought Agriculture, Music, poetry, wealth, structure, intellect and Paper which led to a boom in libraries and books with the study of Astronomy and the Stars. Toledo was in fact the foundation of the Renaissance and it goes without saying amazing buildings like the Great Mosque of Cordoba, Madinat al-Zahra and Alhambra Palace. No wonder Latin Americans are reverting to Islam.

ReplyDeleteI would agree your last paragraph is correct. Although I wonder about Toledo. So what happened to muslims? Why do they now want to fight and kill each other and anyone that's not a muslim. Did religion get in the way of education.

All this talk of progress, wealth and structure brought about by the Islamic religion does seem bizarre when you consider that infidel Spain translates more literature every year than the whole of the Arabic world has done EVERY year cumulatively SINCE the Dark Ages.

Cordoba in the 10th century was by far the most civilised city of Europe. We know of lending libraries in Spain at the time King Alfred was making terrible blunders with the culinary arts in this country. It is said that the 400,000 volumes in its ruler's library amounted to more books than all the libraries of the rest of Europe put together. That was made possible because the Muslim world acquired from China the skill of making paper more than 400 years before the rest of non-Muslim Europe. Many of the traits on which modern Europe prides itself came to it from Muslim Spain. Diplomacy, free trade, open borders, the techniques of academic research, of anthropology, etiquette, fashion, various types of medicine, hospitals, all came from this great city of cities.
Medieval Islam was a religion of remarkable tolerance for its time, allowing Jews and Christians the right to practise their inherited beliefs, and setting an example which was not, unfortunately, copied for many centuries in the West. The surprise, ladies and gentlemen, is the extent to which Islam has been a part of Europe for so long, first in Spain, then in the Balkans, and the extent to which it has contributed so much towards the civilisation which we all too often think of, wrongly, as entirely Western. Islam is part of our past and our present, in all fields of human endeavour. It has helped to create modern Europe. It is part of our own inheritance, not a thing apart.
it was only because of the transfer of knowledge from islam , with the sacking of spain, that christians where able to venture to the new world.

Anon at 23.02 Yes I think you make some good points, but they were also very cruel, I've read articles where they also slaughtered a lot of the locals, although that can be said of many european peoples.
ReplyDeleteWhat I want to know is what happened to Islam. Why did you give up on all these wonderful things you are supposed to have done. I haven't seen anything come from the arab muslims in probably 500 years perhaps even as much as a thousand years. Why did you all go so backwards, you can't say you have invented much in the muslim world recently, unless it was with the help western brains, that you now want to take the historic credit for.
Perhaps it was too much worship and not enough learning that was the problem, or the subducation of the the poor under the banner of religion. I expect you will now say it is all the "wests" fault, to that I would say then why do you want to live in the "western" part of the world? After all we are the scum of the earth according to muslims. Although we do provide money, housing, health care and benefits to you all in britain.

ReplyDelete1. muslims fought each other, muslims are not perfect but islam as a religion is perfect. The muslim cities in spain for example fought each other for power and money and some went even as far as allying with the christians kings/princes from north (france) to fight and take over spain. United we stand divided we fall. And so one by one each city fell. 6 months later christopher colombus left for the new world with islamic technology and equipment. If muslim spain did not fall maybe america would be discovered by muslims?
2. similar thing happened to ottoman empire, they got corrupt it was declining (all empires rise and fall) they no longer followed islam, till the arabs along with the british fought the turks(ottomans) to get their freedom. The west wanted the caliphate (ottoman empire) to cease to exist, because muslims only get power through unity.
3. so after ottoman empire , arab countries were colonized, not allowed to advance, corruption, and again arab countires fighting each other, one arab country would ally with russia, the other with usa , the puppets(arabs) would fight each other. If I go to jordan for example and ask for freedom and justice , I would be tortured with the approval of the west, since the monarchy in jordan is installed and supported by the west.
So YES arab world today is corrupt, backward, even so called islamic countries like iran and saudi arabia are not really islamic. You can see today theyre building tall towers, yet no good universities or hospitals. They are not using the oil money properly.

muslims are asking credit for what they invented during the 1000 years golden age of islam. Do you use ALGEBRA? it came from muslims..Do you use ARABIC NUMERALS? it came from muslims, the renaissance and enlightment was not possible without muslim science and technology. After the decline of islamic empire it was now the west's turn to rise. But in the past europe was backward in the dark ages believing in superstition while muslims walked on paved streets with street lights and public baths.

no its not because of prayer or religion, i mean muslims invented while they prayed daily and followed islam, If you look at europe , only after they had secularism separation of church and state then they advanced, while they were christians under pope following strict laws, they were backward. While the muslims in spain and bagdhad were advancing (under islam). Today its different , muslims no longer follow islam properly, and so they became backward.
IF europe follows christianity and throws out secularism, it will become backward, but if Muslims follow Islam they will advance.
REmember the arabs were backward no civilization, only after islam they had civilization. Where as europe became powerful and advanced only after they accepted secularism and threw out christianity.
Muslims will advance again as long as they stop fighting each other, unite with each other, and the west stops supporting dictatorships.
There's little point in trying to brag about Islam's achievements when it is currently being taken back to the dark ages by knuckle dragging extremists. No one in the west is grudgingly denying the advances made back in the depths of history, it's simply a surprise that with such a legacy Islam is being dragged backwards, and seemingly with the blessing of supposedly more enlightened muslims.
