Sila Sahin a 25 year old Turkish German Muslim model wanted a bit of freedom so what better way to express her freedom than to whip off her clothes in this video and become the first Muslim to pose nude for Playboy.
Apparently, the nude photo shoot which has understandably horrified her family is a "liberation" from the restrictions of her childhood. What LM finds bizarre is why on the one hand she slags her parents off whose only crime appears to be bringing her up as a decent modest Muslim girl then expresses devastation about being ostracised and pleads for them to let her come home.
Sister Sila perhaps if you put your clothes on and show your family some respect you might be welcomed home although in the interim watch out for top shelves of Newsagents up in Bradistan being emptied of Playboys by curious Brothers taking a keen interest in human anatomy.

Obviously only some women's choices are acceptable in your book. Every woman has the right to dress how she wants and earn her living in the manner she wishes, as long as it is legal (posing for Playboy is legal in Germany last time I checked). She is a grown, adult woman allowed to make her own choices, whether you (or any other muslim) agree with them or not.
ReplyDeleteAnyway what I get from reading the article, is that she may have had a strict muslim upbringing due to having strict muslim parents, but she herself is not a muslim; at the very least she is not too keen on the islamic religion or practices (she does not seem to be practicing). If it is the case that she does not wish to practice islam and/or does not consider herself a muslim, then stop criticising her for behaving unislamically!! You can question whether her decision to pose nude is 'liberating' or not, but to censure her for not behaving like a 'proper muslim' when she might not even BE a muslim is just stupid.
If her family disown her for doing a playboy shoot then she's better off without them. The only dishonour brought upon them is the one brought upon themselves for putting thier religion before their daughter, shame on them.

What an amazingly sweeping comment. The Victorians had no public expressions of nudity - quite the opposite, in-fact, and yet their society was extremely licentious. Sexually transmitted diseases, backstreet abortions, and child prostitution were rife. Perhaps you should look at The Republic of Ireland which even today, hides a welt of damaged people and relationships behind a repressive Roman Catholic Church.

People have had illicit sex since time immemorial with whomever and whatever they fancied. Muslims are no - repeat - no exception to this rule.
