UCL Professor of Genetics Steve Jones has started an interesting debate following his contribution to the discussion over cousin marriages within the Pakistani Muslim community especially in Bradistan.
How ironic that an outstanding geneticist and perhaps one of the leading Scientists in his field who is not a Muslim is providing a helpful fact based warning to the Pakistani Muslim Community up north about the appalling genetic defects of first cousin marriages.
LM has on a number of occasions expressed my disgust at cousin marriages in this day and age when there is no excuse for not being aware of the consequence and risks of genetic defects. Rather than welcoming the important advice sadly some Pakistani Muslims will continue to remain silent about the scientific facts and simply attempt to close down debate about anything that mentions the word Pakistan. LM notes the similar silence about Pakistani Imams and sexual abuse.
Samira Shackle herself from Karachi points out that while the word inbreeding perhaps fosters stereotypes, the reason Pakistani Muslims from Bradistan (who largely originate from a village called Mirpur) engage in first cousin marriages is to do with clan or tribal loyalty also known as the Biradari system.
Nobody in Bradistan least of all the donuts running the mosques have contributed to this important debate largely because they are probably part of the 75% who are in cousin marriages. As a result, LM congratulates the good Professor for raising something sadly Bradstani's are too scared or too embarrassed to discuss.

I agree with you LM to a certain extent, but I don't think he has the right to brand Islam or Muslims with the same brush, this is an asian/pakistani problem, pakistan represents a small number of Muslims compared to the Ummah!

He states that Muslims marry their nieces as a fact! This may fool the ignorant non-Muslim majority, but LM, who appears to be implicitly claiming the moniker of a "Muslim" does not even utter a contradictory peep, why?
It says a lot about the weird nature of bigoted LM who expresses such open disgust at a practice of our beloved Prophet (Sallalahu alaihi wsa-salam) & many of the sahaba karam.

If telling the truth is muslim bashing, give up islam and muslims are finished if they can't look in the mirror. It is the sane idiocy we see when the tenets of sharia(the figh of the five major schools)are exposed and detailed to muslims by a non-muslim, even though it is all written down for all to see, and the muslim screams that they are being demonized. Either muslims are really ignorant of the tenets of their own religion, or they believe non-muslims are truly stupid. Even though, non-muslims have created and invented the modern world, and for the far greater part gave up breeding off close relatives a long time ago.

The ruling elite of society, the blue-blooded aristocrats can't be that affected if they still hold the dominant position, even with their so-called genetic weaknesses? If anything it was the chavs who were bastardized & at the bottom.
Why is it not mentioned that Pure breeding can also concentrate positive genetic traits e.g. intelligence . vide Darwin-Galton etc.
The incredibly successful Jewish community have risen to the top, but according to the irrational their genetic heritage should be a negative.
Africa with its incredible genetic diversity is "strangely" not faring too well.
Even "Hindu" India is an example, the south Indians are popularly assumed to be cleverer than their northern compatriots. However, in the north they are strongly against cousin marriage, whereas in the south it is common.
With regard to Pakistanis & intelligence, the question of low results is not due to cousin marriage, but geographical origins. Punjabis & Kashmiris both have cousin marriages, but Punjabi results closely correspond to the Indian results especially in London. It is about wealth & the educational culture of aspiration. Similarly, the fact that 10% of the medical school students in Oslo (Norway) are Pakistani should raise questions. (Way out of proportion to their demographics).
The millenia of genetic legacies cannot be done away with in a relatively historical jiffy & surely this should pose a striking counter-question to the faddists?
As for the scientist, is a scientist who does not behave in a scientific manner one who should be given a fair hearing e.g. tobacco company apologists? This scientist has given his own personal views & has made such critical fundemental error, that it should jolt the sleeping.

You guys are funny! The report states that there is a problemwith intermarriage between the asian community. This we know why due to your nationalistic and highly racist tendancies to marry somone that looks, smells and eats like you. So what do you do when you are caught out, you hide and avoid the truth.
