Will it take a riot to finally acknowledge the positive contribution of Muslims?

The legacy of the riots for me was not only the stunning dignity of Muslim father Tariq Jahan but also when one of my few white neighbours said how "lucky" and reassured she felt living in an area with a significant Muslim population.

Unlike others, LM during the early stages of the riots urged Muslims in London to come out and defend our communities which is exactly what we did from Turks, Bangladeshis and Somali's while in large part White and Black Chavs went on the rampage.

Ignoring knee jerk posturing of politicians who desperately scramble for soundbites from Super Cops through to the return of National Service what you wont find either Center Left or Center Right doing is highlighting the positive contribution of Muslims in defending society and avoiding vengeance despite enormous provocation from the Murder of 3 Birmingham Muslims to the thuggery towards a Malaysian Student who was attacked but still praised this country and vowed to continue his studies here.

Muslims who currently are observing Ramadan have like the Sikh community exemplified the benefits of living amongst people of faith or whisper it quietly to racist David Cameron, Multiculturalism. While Norway and England have endured violence and mass murder in both respective countries Muslims behaved nobly a word that is often underused but accurately describes our collective integrity and decency when all around us black and white culture is descending into the abyss.

David Starkey may want to focus on Black gangster culture in our inner cities however, I'd like to think it took a riot for some of my white neighbours to begin to tacitly if reluctantly acknowledge the positive role Muslim culture and faith played in helping restore stability where chaos reigned. What on earth a Tudor historian understands about inner city violence is beyond me but it vividly illustrates the perenial problem of those white right wing folk whose grand historical ambitions for this country sadly outstrip our current potential.

What our right wing media elite and establishment have kept quiet about is the number of London Borough Police Commanders who were invited to address Muslim congregations in Mosques to thank the community for our positive role we played. I was at Harrow Mosque to hear the Chief Super convey his thanks and in Hammersmith Commander Lucy D'Orsi also addressed the community during Friday prayers. 

In addition, have you also noticed for the first time how the white media establishment are suddenly allowing black faces on TV, Current Affairs programmes and Paper Reviews. Previously, lazy broadcast editors and researchers would automatically revert to their usual mixture of Neo Con's and right wing think thanks to give us their millitaristic view of the New World Order before realising these buffoons have no understanding of the issues in large part we the mainstram face on a day to basis.

Thanks to the likes of Murdoch, Richard Desmond and fellow Israelites Muslims have been at the receiving end of vilification on an industrial scale that Goebels himself would have struggled to surpass. However, while we Muslims were fasting and defending Societies cohesiveness the violence was being perpetrated in large part by White and Black Cultural Terrorists. That's right it sounds strange but have you also noticed how because Muslims were not involved in violence but were victims the word terrorist which should be used to simply define violent acts intended to create fear (terror) has never been used by any mainstream white right wing broadcast or non Broadcast establishment outfit.

Lets be clear this so called Green and Pleasant land has offered immingrant communities sanctuary freedom and a lifestyle we could not hope to attain "back home". However perhaps it has taken a riot for UK society to finally begin to acknowledge that we Muslims have and will increaingly continue to play a vital role in restoring the Great back into Great Britain.
