LM has written a number of articles here and here about the sadly deteriorating relationship between Muslims and Christians in Malaysia which resulted over the weekend in a march by Muslims against Christian missionary activity.
LM is wary of so called "Islamic groups" organising marches against minority faiths which although not in this instance can and does lead to violence as we have seen on a number of occasion's in Indonesia. Surely there has to be a better way by simply sitting down and discussing mutual concerns rather than the gramophone activity we currently have in Malaysia by the likes of Yusri Mohamed.
I should also add that only 5,000 turned up despite calls for a million to attend the rally.

Indonesia? Does LM have his/her head so far up his/her ass in islamic delusion that persecution of religious minorities in malaysia is something new? Did you happen to miss the destruction of the Hindu communities of pakiland and bangladesh? The genocide of Chaldean christians in iraq? saudi? How 'bout iran and the Bahai's? Hi Gilana, i do love peace and if you asked me what I wanted for Israel the answer would simply be "peace" - I feel sad when people of any race or religion are blown up by another andI don't support it in any way whatsoever. And I am one of many many Muslims who feel that way - I lost friends and family in the London tue bombings like everyone else, and I feared a repeat like everyone else - but because I am Muslim and know Manu Muslims I am able to differentiate between terrorists and Muslims and see them as different things, whereas non-muslims seem to struggle with the concept that Muslims are a bunch of humans, some of whom are good peace loving people and some of whom are crazy war mongers. There is a terrorist group called IRA - but I don't conclude all Irish are terrorists, there is a terrorist group called PKK but I don't assume all Kurds are terrorists. Similarly when Britain went into Iraq - there was wide scale protest - I don't assume all Brits want war.
ReplyDeleteI do have a political stance, and I do have a faith - but those two things don't make me an advocate of bombings and murder and the killing of innocent civilians. It is rare to find a country or a race of people's with no violence (justified or unjustified) in their history, or even now - but to bunch all citizens and believers into hate filled terrorists is unjust and incorrect.
I recognise there is a great deal of anger towards Muslims because of terrorist acts, and I fear those acts just like any other British citizen - a radical Muslim would not even recognise me as a Muslim and would hate me in the same way they hate you even though I pray, fast, etc etc
Whether I support Israel as a legal state or whether I don't doesn't make me a murderer or a terrorist - it's a political view which I can have without being labelled as radical or extreme - but feelings around the world have become too heated and people have apparently stopped being able to recognise one issue from another and have begun to bunch everything all into one - unable to seperate faith from extremism, unable to seperate a poltical view from extremism, unable to seperate race from extremism -
In truth, I would be happiest when they are no bombs and guns, when I am not seeing death, desperation and starvation on the news everyday. I am also Muslim.
