Demba Ba Newcastle's Football Sensation highlights the Importance of Muslims in the Premiership

Watching Newcastle defeat Man Utd with help from the Premierships most outstanding footballer this season, Senegalese Muslim Demba Ba provided an enormous sense of pride.

Demba Ba has been on fire for Newcastle, since Ramadan he has exploded on the goal front which according to Alan Pardew is due to the effects of fasting wearing off. However, LM who previously wrote about Muslim footballers in the Premiership once again returns more generally to the amazing contribution of Muslims in making the Premiership what it is with almost a complete news black out on the issue.

The Tabloids are never slow in attacking Muslims and Islam yet it is noteworthy how they have traditionally and deliberately avoided mentioning the superb role of Muslim footballers in the UK or overseas from Zidane to Karim Benzema. However, while the Media deliberately ignore outstanding Muslim footballers its no surprise that Non Muslim footballers like Barcelona's Xavi Hernandez has spoken about his respect for Islam and Muslims. LM mentions my lack of surprise because playing with the likes of Eric Abidal, Seydou Keita and Ibrahim Affelay its no surprise he has respect for Muslims. Newcastle's Yohan Cabaye a French Catholic has also highlighted his admiration for Muslim footballers like Frank Ribery and Samir Nasri along with Leon Best.

LM's current Muslim Premiership Team before the Transfer window kicks in is as follows:

Ali Habsi
Yaya/Kolo Toure
Salamon Kalou
Hatem Ben Arfa
Armand Traore
Samir Nasri
Adel Taarabt
Mohammad Diame
Robin Van Persie (OK well he did Marry a Muslim)
Demba Ba
Nicholas Anelka
Sub
Edin Dzeko

Not a bad Muslim football team and yes of course my 11 has missed out some players however, when is the UK football Press including Sky Sports going to recognise and celebrate the brilliance of Muslim Premiership footballers?

**Update** Hatem Ben Arfa recently said " I dont eat pork but I do drink Alcohol"
**Update 1** As a result I'm transfer listing Benny & replacing him with Papa Cisse.
** Update 2 ** Alan Pardew to build Prayer Room for Newcastle's Muslim players

  1. WTF has being a Muslim got to do with playing a good game of football? "When on earth is the UK football press going to [...]celebrate the brilliance of Muslim Premiership footballers?" Why on earth should they? Just because Muslims hold their faith as central to their lives doesn't oblige poor old Gary Lineker to bang on about it. When oh when is the football media in this country going to recognise the brilliance of gay atheist players? or ginger left-footers? or men from Rotherham called Tony?
    Sometimes I really do wonder...
