Yesterday was Holocaust Memorial Day as we recall the industrial nature of white European genocide that led to the Gas Chambers and killing of 6 million Jews.
What many are not aware of is how Muslims like Iranian Abdol Hosseain Sardari played a significant role in saving the lives of Iranian Jews. Even in Canada the Jewish community has honoured Muslims for rescuing Jews from the Holocaust something I wrote about last year when a similar event occurred in Wales.
The reason for writing about the heroic role of Muslims which is increasingly being recognised by Jews is because we appear to have articles by Mehdi Hassan saying he is shamed by Muslim attitudes towards the Holocaust. I like Mehdi but frankly he is wrong and way off the mark. Just because the MCB made a mistake you cannot tar the entire Muslim community with the same brush.
Hilter was not a Muslim nor were the Nazis so why should Muslims need to recall a genocide more than the perpetrators ie white Catholics. Christians in Europe perpetrated this crime lets not forget that and we Muslims all of us should join in the remembrance as a stark warning about how White Europeans behaved previously. As far as LM is concerned Nazi Joe the Pope should be outside the Vatican on his knees every year during HMD leading the remembrance on behalf of Catholics and also seeking forgiveness for his own dubious role in the Nazi Army. Just to be clear Muslims saved Jews from the Nazis and we have nothing to be ashamed of.
**Update** Good to see Turkey air a Holocaust Documentary

What you may not have seen if you didn't read the actual Times' article (but just the New Statesman synopsis by Mehdi) is the reference to the Channel 4 poll which revealed one in three Muslims in this country don't believe the Holocaust took place.
ReplyDelete"In 2006 a Channel 4 poll found that a quarter of British Muslims didn't know what the Holocaust was and only one in three believed it had occurred"
Nothing to be ashamed of?
A third of the Muslim community in this country are Holocaust deniers and you say you don't have a problem with that?
Typical. If someone referred to 9/11 as 'a stark warning about how [brown muslims] behaved previously', I hardly think you would approve of that.
