The Moon has been sighted in Saudi and Ramadan has been declared as starting on Friday 20 July.
Regents Park Mosque Website has crashed as usual but Saudi, Qatar and UAE celebrating on Friday with Oman on Saturday.
Ramadan Kareem to all Muslims during this blessed month.

Ramadan Mubarak Brothers and Sisters! Xx
ReplyDeleteI am from Cape Town. My son-in-law is at present in Southampton and I ordered him not to begin the fast of Ramadaan on Friday (20/7/2012) according to a Saudi manufactured crescent sighting report, but to observe the Fard Ibadah of fasting according to the true Islamic time-keeping system. May Allah forgive those who insist on following a Saudi calendar system that is un-Islamic.
ReplyDeleteReally LM, what "scientific proof" have you got for that, as you are so enamoured of that apparently infallible method?
ReplyDeleteThe fitna from Najd is causing problems.

Sudayr & Shaqra from Najd have a lot to answer for.
Even from moon-sighting.com the usual suspects strike again!
"Saudi Arabia:
Not Seen: Luqmaan Williams (MCW member) from Ta'if reported: I was in Makkah tonight (Thursday), July 19th. Clear skies but did not sight the crescent.
Seen (Saudi Announcement): Mrs. Lubna Shawly (MCW member) from Jiddah reported: It is announced in the Saudi courts, according to the observation of the new moon (moon is sighted in areas of Sudair & Shagra), and that the first day of Ramadan for the year 1433 Hijrah will be on Friday the 20th of July 2012. Moonsighting.com opinion is that this is a mistaken claim of sighting."
Assalam o alaikum - Ramadan mubarak to you! Am a follower of your blog and thanks for all your efforts. I thought I'd make you aware, I was doing a Ramadan challenge on my blog - 30 days, 30 posts on amazing Muslim women. http://addictedtoramadaning.blogspot.co.uk/ - Do let me know your thoughts on these or if you have any suggestions re: women you would like to see on this list.
ReplyDeleteWassalam
Here is a great parody about those LM-style, blinded by flashy technology, without comprehending the possibility of faulty foundational premises >

Surely the North American website quoted earlier by LM refers to the North American moon-sighting region does it not? Is it LA Muslim or "London" Muslim?
Ramadan Mubarak!
