According to this impressive scientific website Ramadan 2012 is due to start on Friday 20 July inshallah. The Fiqh Council of North America are respected scholars who use scientific calculations to determine July's new Moon.
However, therein lies the proverbial difficulty with we Muslims because sadly the Fiqh Council website uses the dreaded words Science and astronomy which frankly old fashioned Muslims don't understand. As a result, rather than acknowledging the wonders of Science & Algebra Muslims gave the world sadly we now have to rely on some old Brother in Saudi or Pakistan verifying for himself with the naked eye sighting of a new moon before Ramadan is officially confirmed.
Still in doubt, well how about a science lesson on the validity of Astronomy in determining moon sighting. What is it with our Ulema who seem so bereft of intelligence and understanding about the basic concept of Science which enables us now to verify and establish the dates of Ramadan up to and including 2020.

nice post thanks for sharing ramadan 2012
ReplyDeleteYou are violating the Sunnah of our beloved Nabi Sallallahu Alayhi Wa sallam. And you mock the methods of the sunnah when we all know that there is no better way other than the way of our beloved; Sallallhu Alayhi Wa Sallam. How could you say the Sunnah method is 'old fashioned' when it is the closest to Allah and choose 'Science' over it. In the Uk we are not supposed to follow Saudi's moon sighting, rather by the Laws of Islamic Jurisprudence we must follow the sightings of the nearest Muslim Country which is Morocco. Saudi had 9 moon sighting committees ready to sight the hilal of the new moon on the night of the 19th but none of them could sight it. However 1 man claimed to have seen it so Saudi announced the commencement of Ramadhaan will be the 20th July 2012 based on this account. Last year Saudi did this too but Eid was celebrated on the wrong date by millions following Saudi when they should have been keeping their final fast. After Eid Saudi declared that they were sorry for the mistake and claimed that they will pay Kaffarah for all their citizens. Here in the Uk there was a negative moon sighting in the observatory in York. http://www.wifaqululama.co.uk/ . No other country in the whole world had sighted the moon either including Morocco who we should be following. So according to the Sunnah method Sa'baan completes 30days and Ramadhaan begins on the 21st of July 2012. May Allah guide us all on to the right path.
ReplyDeleteToday is 1st August 2012 - perfect clear skies over London - enough to observe a clear full moon. This means that those who observed the start of Ramadan on Saturday are out of sync with the lunar cycle by at least one full day and those who fasted later still are at least 2 days out of sync. Brothers & sisters, our beloved Prophet's message was 2 fold; belief in the oneness of Allah and UNITY in the Muslim Ummah. Science was pursued with thought and discovery by the first generations of Muslims who had far greater knowledge and understanding of the 'deen' then us present day Muslims who lack clear knowledge and hide behind dogma. Determining the start of Ramadan has been turned into a competition to see who has the best eyesight or not - thereby missing the whole purpose of this holy month and creating disunity and discord amongst families and communities. We who don't have very clear and depth of knowledge in the deen should not bandy around the small bits that we do know and bang drums without using sufficient intelligent thought and consideration in the matter.
ReplyDeleteyou bloody anti saudi berelvis, hope you enjoy your fasting on eid day you devils, with your british Govt run Hilal commitee just to caus division amongst Ummah
