  1. Whereas the 100 rockets Hamas fired into southern Israel preceding Israel's retaliation were carefully targeted at military installations, were they?
    Hamas has been trying to get a Israel to react for weeks so that when...finally...Israel does they can show the world pictures like the above and we can all feel justifiable "outrage" without having to think too hard about the politics behind it all.

  3. They (Israel) fired into Syria also - seems that they are taking advantage of Turkey's recent fallout with Syria. Knowing that big brother Turkey is unlikely to step in at this time: they fire.
    Either they fired at Syria to ally with Turkey, or they fired at Syria to prevent Turkey from getting involved and thus threatening the important gateway that Turkey is.
    Seeing as Israel by and large equals America as well, it would clearly be unwise at this stage for anyone to do anything.

    Meanwhile, Israel are risking pulling a Sadam and "going too far" thus losing American support and becoming vulnerable in the region.
