Premier League Offer Muslim Players Non Alcoholic Post Match Prize

The Premier League have taken an excellent decision to stop awarding Muslim football players alcohol as Post Match Prizes and will now offer Rosewater & Pomegranate like they do in F1.

LM made a bit of a fuss and contacted the Premier League when Yaha Toure was placed in the embarrassing position of having to refuse his Man of the Match Alcohol "prize" saying he does not drink because he is Muslim. Last week as reported by the Mail article Demba Ba refused to even pass on the alcohol award to his team-mate Gutierrez so clearly the Premier League have seen sense and bowed to the inevitable.

It goes without saying given the rapid increase over the years in outstanding Muslim players (some of whom like Man City's Samir Nasri are asserting their Muslim identity) reported by LM here and here combined with the growing popularity of Premier League football in Muslim world the decision to stop awarding Alcohol was correct. LM's only disappointment was that it took pressure from the likes of me rather than Alcohol Concern whose job it is to campaign for an improved policy with regard to those whose lives are affected by Alcohol.

Eid Family Fun Day At Regents Park Mosque

Regents Park Mosque will be holding a free family fun event today Sunday 26 August from 11am-8pm although not sure why they could not mention the word Eid in their flyer.

LM is no fan of Regents Park Mosque and its leadership as I've made clear on numerous occasions and I would not be surprised if this first ever family event might be in response to criticism levelled by me and others.

However, today is not a day for politics or sectarian strife. Finally, Regents Park Mosque is giving back to the Community by putting on an event that many have been demanding for years. As a result, with bouncy castles, food stalls and loads of food to eat what are you waiting for, the Sun is out so LM hopes to see a fantastic turnout by London Muslims and I hope to be there by Zuhr inshallah.

Eid On Sunday

Saudi have announced that Saturday will be the 30th day of Ramadan so Eid Al Fitr will be celebrated on Sunday in the Kingdom and as a result Eid is on Sunday here in the UK.

Whisper it quietly but strangely with all Muslims celebrating Eid on Sunday we have Muslim Unity albeit for day. Lets Celebrate Eid inshallah on Sunday and the refreshing sense of Muslim unity although the cynic in me says the Unity sadly wont last.

China Bans Ramadan For Muslims

China have taken a very disturbing decision to forbid Muslims from fasting during the holy month of Ramadan.

The Communist Party decided that officials and students in the largely Muslim province of Xinjiang should not only be banned from fasting but also from visiting Mosques.

What LM finds absolutely astonishing about this shocking behaviour which could impact on the 50 Million Chinese Muslims is yes the decision but equally the manner this is being implemented where according to Al Jazeera party leaders are being ordered to bring "gifts" of food to local Muslim village leaders in order to ensure they and their Muslim villagers are eating during Ramadan.

LM has to say while I found the German decision to ban Muslim and Jewish circumcision disgraceful the Chinese are increasingly beginning to display worrying signs of behaviour on a par with the worst of the Nazi Regime in Germany.

China from a moral standpoint you should be ashamed however, from the purely political perspective of self preservation you have taken a step too far with regard to the 9 Million Muslim Uighars in Xinjiang who will react and punish you for your dangerous arrogance.
